If you want to try for the CSCS later on the NSCA puts out a fairly good text that covers training all age groups, muscle physiology, testing and eval, etc. It's called Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning....it's a little spendy though.
Try about a gram a day each of ipriflavone and methoxyisoflavone in divided doses--they have anticatabolic effects that help with retaining mass.
