I would say to get a full blood panel to see exactly where you are at, no need to tell tour PCP anything about (self meds), if needed up your current BP dose. Depending on how long you have been taking BP meds, your body/dose might just be getting dependent on a lower test level, keep your eye...

funny cause I had the same situation (high bp young age) I danced around the idea of taking meds until I had no choice but to go on a low dose medication for high BP so I feel your pain, there really is no way around it, it one of those thing that can catch up with you in the end.
