42 YO, TRT weekly "journal"

Still relatively new to this site and really appreciate the feedback/insight. I keep looking for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) posts that describe the initial feelings/results as the curiosity of "what can I expect" as i progress is always top of mind.

I thought I would start my own. At the very least I can go back over time and use this as my own journal of sorts.

42 yr old male
5'11, 187lbs
Bodyfat 14%

Not a bodybuilder. Just a 42 year old male that has been hitting the gym with a very clean diet for past year with little results, at least not those i noticed 10 years ago with less effort and a horrible diet.

Energy during workouts was low, low libido and for the first time in my life I would awake without the morning wood on some days.

I had blood work done at test, serum came back at 368
Estridol at 34.2

Prescribed:
1.test cyp 200 MG/ML (10 ML Vial), 1 milliliter IM injection 1x per week (Mon)

2. Anastrozole 1.2MG Capsule (Tue, Wed)
***special note on this one. The bottle came to me saying 1 capsule every day. Thanks to the folks on this site that jumped in immediately to tell me that was too much. Called my doc and he said the scrip was written wrong.

3. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) 500 IU Lozenges under tongue 3x per week (Mon, Wed< Fri)

What I am using;
- 20g needle to draw up test e
- 23g, 1" needle to pin

Week 1
- Injected outer right quad. First time self injecting anything. Went MUCH smoother than anticipated. Aspirated, no blood, some tiny bubbles so I slowly pushed the plunger in (20 seconds or so in total).
- Very little PIP the next day. Felt like a slight charlie horse.
- Workouts during the week were better but I attribute 99.9% of this to the "excitement" of starting this new part of life.

Week 2
- Injected right glute. Different experience altogether. Reaching around to hold the needle with left hand (insert reach around joke) to hold syringe and aspirating with right hand was a challenge. No blood, same 20 second push.
- Small drop of oil leaked out of injection site.
- Within minutes a had a rather odd taste in my mouth, did a quick Google search and the consensus seemed to be that I nicked or passed through a vein, oil on needle during pass through went into bloodstream. Seems like a common occurrence and the taste abated within an hour or so.
- PIP was a bit worse and i attribute that to the newbie factor. No a big deal, just slightly worse.
- same situation with workout energy. No discernible change in energy or overall general feeling.
- Mid week I did think my morning wood was feeling...stronger.

Week 3
- Back to outer right quad. Moved a couple of inches higher than the first time. Very smooth, no aspirating issues, same 20 second plunger count.
- PIP seemed the same as week 1. Again, nothing to fuss about.
- Being a few days away from pin #3, I still do not feel a change in the overall "sense of well being" From what I have read Test E begins to kick in around weeks 3 to 6 depending on the individual.
- Same feeling during workouts with a slight increase in reps (I keep a fairly detailed log while i workout). I am purposely keeping my lifts and weights used the same, at least initially as I am very concerned about injuries. I had tendon issues with left arm and elbow pain when I got back on the workout train last year as I tried to up the weight to fast. Doctor friend of mine said...can't try to jump back in like you did when you were 21...
- Admittedly getting eager for this to "kick in". I hope I have not over estimated what "kicking in will actually mean/feel like.
- Diet was dialed in before I started so that has been easy. The difficult part is trying to hit the 3K calorie level. Mostly, i am really trying to make sure I get 250 - 300g of protein. I am using whey protein shakes a bit more than I probably should. Just don't and never have had a huge appetite. Eating clean calories (no junk food/crap) has been a huge eye opener.

That is all for now. I only have one "before" pic and might post that with a progress pic some time in the future.

If there is anyone out there that is on the same Test E scrip that I am on I would be interested in your feedback and experience.

Thanks 42! I also started three weeks ago - I had spent five months using cream. I'm doing almost the same dose as you, but splitting it in two - 0.5 ml E3D. I've had Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) prescribed, just can't get it right now. I've injected into delts, quad (once) and sub-Q belly (once). The quad gave me about two days of mild discomfort, the belly is still sore five days later, the delts have been utterly painless. So that's where I'm staying. (I think I did the sub-Q totally wrong but I don't know how.) I'm a bloody lot older than you though at 61, 6'5" 120kg 26%.

BD7 & Bigfella- Thanks. I look forward to reading about your experiences as well.

BF- I see so many comments about people going the delt route. I look at my delts in the mirror and think...no flippin way. The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) I have is the kind you dissolve under the tongue.

What is your height and weight and age? 200 mg a week seems a high testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose to start with unless you are heavy. With a lower dose you may not need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI). I'm curious where your t level will be in a month or two.

BTW, i draw w/ and 18 gauge and inject with a 25 gauge. No pain at all.

I am. I just started yesterday after a month of patches. I am on 100mg weekly with no AI's at this point. I also think 200mg is a little high specially since you are 40 and your numbers are still in the high 300 range. Im 29 and have a low 200's to high 100's and have only started at 100mg. But well see how it goes. I did the quad and like you to am kind of sore there today but nothing that would hold me back from working out or doing normal activity.

I am 5'10 and weighed 226ish my fighting weight should be around 180. I just could not keep it at that weight anymore impossible. Finally found out I had a low T problem with a 210 and 170 test. Been on the patches for three weeks and my mental foggyness is GONE, fatigue still there but my motivation is higher so its easier to fight through the fatigue, little or no change from having no morning wood maybe have had it 2-3 times in the last month. Had a blood test after 3 weeks of patches and was sitting at 234, so still really low. But I now weigh 216 and with no diet change and no change to activity. So something is going on but Im not near perfet yet. But well see after about three weeks how this test e goes.

I think the test e dose isn't that high. I am on 210mg e5d and feeling great. I think whats a little high to start is the anastrozle. I think half that much would be fine to start with.
