I am new to the lifting thing, I was just curious if someone could tell me what creatine is, what it does and is worth taking? Also, could someone make any recomendations to alternatives to it?

Thanks!

Simply put, creatine supplementation allows your cells to produce ATP(adenosine tri-phosphate), which is energy for your cells, at a more rapid rate than normal. This allows you to do more work and hence lift more weight and perform more reps. There is much more to it's mechanism of action such as creating an anabolic environment in your cells through cell volumization. You could do a google search to find out more info if you would like.

Dude summed it up good i think. Simply it will give u some more reps in the gym = more muscle. Some get water retention but thats nothing big, I get descent effect from it but no water retention.
