Albuterol side effects---any information

Okay I did all of the research and asked all of the questions however my wife just starting taking albuterol and said that she's been having the shakes. She takes 1ml twice a day as directed. Is this normal or should she cut back and try to split it up to 3 times a day?

Albuterol is supposed to be more specific to the B2 receptors and less to the B1. In my experience that hasn't been true.

Remembering the saying "B2, you have 2 lungs. B1, you have 1 heart". Beta-sympathomimetics affect the heart and lungs in opposite ways. They dilate the bronchials to help with breathing, but constrict blood vessels and increase the heart rate.

Have you tried clenbuterol? My albuterol inhaler (I know you're doing it orally) puts my pulse over 100 and makes me dizzy. I can tolerate clen a lot better.

As you would imagine, cut back on the dose until she gets a tolerance, or wait for a few days for one to develop at the current dose. If you have access to blood pressure monitoring, do it.

in large doses even specific receptor agonists become non specific
so b2 agonist can stimulate b1 too
try splitting the dose ,, if failed lower the dose and see what happens

Are you sure you're not accidentally dosing more than 1mg? That seems awful low to get such sides. One time I took 18mg albuterol in a single dose, my heart was racing and head was pounding, but no shakes. I tolerate stims well, but albuterol never made me shake. Clen did a bit around 150mcg.

Your post says 1ml. 1 ml of what? Is it a 5mg solution? Anyway, getting shakes from alb is normal due to the cardiac effect. They should subside after she gets use to it. I usually used 1ml/5mg solution four times a day for a total of 20mg/day. Usually after a few days I stop with the shakes.

The sides from albuterol is the same as clenbuterol but less severe. So shakes and heart racing are common.

1ml doesn't mean anything to us. What's the albut dosed at? If it's RUI's albut then it's 6mg/ml. 6mg of albut is not a lot but will have that effect on sensitive people.

Oh. So it's working?

All Beta-2s have some Cardiovascular (Beta-1) side effects such as Tachycardia. Tachycardia is not uncommon with repeated administrations via Nebulizer. This is why I'm very careful when treating any geriatric patient with a fast (tachycardic) pulse during administration. Monitor her pulse and cut back the dose, howver many MGs she's currently getting.
