``Everything depends on the diet. Follow a strict diet suitable to your body and age, and you will never be affected by diseases,’’ she says.It is not just boasting, hype or fluke. It is noted that many who strictly follow the principles of Ayurveda, remain in shape even after their 60s. And their secret tips for a healthy living are simple -- control your diet and adhere to the Ayurvedic principles of lifestyle. If you can be one such individual, you can surely bid adieu to diseases even in your old age.

Ayurveda suggests that the elderly should decrease the quantity of food that they intake, (They can eat more frequently, but in less quantity in order to facilitate digestion). More fruits and dishes rich in anti-oxidants should be included in the diet for the elderly. Hence, gooseberry, lemon, carrot, leafy vegetables etc are a must in their diet. Ayurvedic practitioners advise them to drink everyday at least three litres of water.

Some Ayurvedic practitioners also suggest that it is good for the old to undergo a rejuvenating therapy from any of the ayurveda resorts kerala once a year.
