the shirt compresses your chest and you pushes your elbows up and sort of spring loads the weight off the bottom , ive seen guys wearing shirts that were so tight and thick they couldnt get 700 to come to their chest but no matter how heavy duty the shirt is once the bar is a few inches off the bottom the only benifit the shirt offers is that it holds your shoulders really tight and helps with injuries , after the first inches its you that has to push it on up and lock it out
bro there are several brands out there , inzer , titan , crane etc. monstermuscle.com carries inzer but if you look in a local bookstore that carries powerlifting usa magazine buy it and you can find anything you want
You can practically break a bone trying to get into one! You need at least two people to help you into it. Very thick material and pretty expensive. If you think bench shirts are restrictive, try a Squat Suit!

inzer beginner shirts start around 40 bucks , but i will never own another shirt that isnt open back much more comfortable between lifts , your circulation and breathing is better and most of all by moving the shirt up or down a little bit at the top i can control how much weight it takes to get the weight down also the quick change ability of open back allows me to open with a slightly bigger shirt this allows me to get my opening attempt to touch and then change to a smaller/stronger shirt for my balls to the walls attempts. i have denim and poly but the poly seems to work better for me .as the weight lifted goes up just get a heavier duty shirt with multiple plys
Squat suit.......if the bench shirt has to be that tight..one could only imagine the pain your nutz would be in if the squat suit has to equally as tight........OUCH!!!!!!
You order them by chest, shoulder and arm size as well as bench press style. If you bench to the chest you will probally do better with a closed or partially split back. If you bench to your upper abdomen you will definitely do better with an open back. Also it depends on which fed you lift in. Some do not allow an open back.
If you plan to compete you need to train in the shirt some to learn it's groove. I use a Karin Double Denim and get about 70# out of it. It is the shit!!!
