do you have to do cardio in order to get lean? i have heard that if your calories are low that you should stay away from it so you dont burn muscle. im currently eating 12x my bodyweight right now and lifting four times a week. trying to cut up and just wondering if i should add some cardio. im currently 180 13% want to reach 7%

thanks

cardio is always good IMO. But no u don't half too do cardio too get lean. You can diet, but it will take longer.

Indeed. As long as you are burning off more cals than you are consuming, you will lose weight. Cardio is good for the ol' ticker, which is why many people do it.

It's going to take awhile to go from 13% to 7% without cardio. If you throw in a little low impact cardio a few times a week for 30 mins, you don't have to worry about losing muscle and it'll get you to 7% a lot faster.

thanks everyone for the info. sounds to me likes it's time to hit the treadmill!!! i hear alot about high intensity cardio burning more fat what are your views on this.

High intensity may burn muscle too. If you want to burn fat and maintain muscle, stick with low intensity.

Low intensity is were it is at for burning fat(220-age)*70%=Low heart range

Higher intensity is more for cardivascular reasons

I do cardio for its endurance properties,

if I do not run on a regular basis, my workouts lag in the gym
