I live in Michigan, where the price of everything (including groceries) is going sky high. And we all know that health food is even more expensive.
What are your favorite budget foods that can be used for dieting and cutting? Fruits and vegetables are the most expensive, to get that kind of nutrition at a low cost what do you do?
I'm on a VERY tight budget, and it's almost impossible for me at times to choose a salad over ramen noodles. I know rice, oatmeal, etc. is pretty easy on the wallet, but what alternatives are there?
*EDIT*
I might as well add in some more info to this thread instead of making another.
I'm a total newb at this forum and weight loss in general, and I really need some advice on a whole diet to begin with. I usually only eat 2 meals a day max. If I eat a breakfast (which is usually only a bowl of cereal) I usually get more hungry throughout the day and have to eat 3 meals and a snack. I'm never hungry in the morning, so this is going to be a change for me and I'm going to have to force myself to eat. Usually if I wait I'm not hungry until most of you are eating dinner, and then I have a meal that varies quite a bit, ranging from healthy to fast food. Then usually this repeats once more later at night (my body rhythm is on 2nd shift) but sometimes I just stick with that one meal! This explains why I'm 6'0" 270lbs at 25 years old. My goal is to lose at least 80lbs within the next 12-16 months, which I think is obtainable if I continue my cardio regiment and change my diet.
I'm trying to cut like crazy right now, not add muscle weight at the moment, so 3 meals is probably going to be the max. Can someone dish me out a healthy, cheap, and simple 3-meal plan off the top of your head that I can stick with for a while?
I've been reading up on training and diets for a while now, and I still don't know where to start. I definitely have the "paralysis by analysis" syndrome 3J talked about in the beginner weight loss thread. Right now I'm just running like crazy and trying to eat less and more often, but I know this isn't going to work in the long haul unless I fine tune everything.
