Coffee that bad?

JamieOleBoy

Yeah Buddy!!!
I drink a cup of coffee a day to cope with the fact I am on a keto diet. I only add half and half (not a lot at all) and it helps me get a lot better pumps in the gym, helps with energy as well since I am not taking in any carbs.

My question is, is it bad for my diet if I am having a cup of coffee per day? I work out every day including cardio/weight training and my diet is superb.

Thanks for all the help/advice, I know that coffee is pretty controversial when it comes to dieting but I make it at home and don't add sugars or any of that other crap.

P.S. I am drinking enough water to cope with dehydration that can happen while drinking coffee.

I dont know much but my boss drinks coffee before runs and hikes with a 50 lbs pack. He is 53 and he always blows all of us away. to be pefectly honest If you drink plenty of water I dont think coffee will hurt at all. I personally cant drink the stuff, I get spun on that shit.

my issue is why are your energy levels low in the first place.. are you, without knowing it, kicking yourself in and out of keto??

No, I don't touch carbs (except my refeed days). My energy levels are usually low because I am running 1500 calories. I know it's low, I got pretty much everything in check. Not gonna lie, I am just trying to look good for spring break because I know with my diet I will probably gain most of my losses back. Also, I have thyroid issues so I tend to be drowsy at times...

1500 calories?? seriously??

cant agree with that...

your gonna blow up after your "spring break".. come to me so we can ease you into eating normally again

the coffee is fine btw

Okay thanks, I am pretty good at dieting. Lost 86 pounds so far naturally, I read a lot here so am not just someone coming on here looking for an easy way out. I know what dedication and willpower it takes to diet and I have it (not to sound cocky).

im not doubting that.. im just saying theres a right and wrong way to lose weight.. and i feel like the way your doing it right now is the wrong way... its a crash diet... crash diets will lead to.. well.. u crashing in the end.. and rebounding

I understand, you do know more about diet than I do, I respect that. I do know I am crash dieting but it's only to look good for spring break, almost as the body builders on this forum do before a competition. I am completely aware of what will happen as I ease into everyday diet, which I might add is very clean.

well yea, that's why im not flaming on u that hard... i know where ur coming from..

and ur wrong about bodybuilders.. they go through an extensive priming, loading, and deloading phase before they drop down their calories like uv seen.. it gets their body in a state that can much better handle that type of calorie deficit

I used to drink coffe like crazy to help me cut weight for fights when I was competing at 154lbs. It really helped me out a lot but then I heard the caffeine deteriorates your bones. I would think that 1 cup a day is fine but you should take a calcium supplement just to be safe.

Coffee is a good because Studies show that the risk for type 2 diabetes is lower among regular coffee drinkers than among those who don't drink it. Coffee may at varied rates reduce the risk of developing gallstones, colon cancer, liver damage, Parkinson’s disease. Coffee has been established to improve performance in long-duration physical activities.
