That Other Guy
Tell me what you all think?
Another world, Another time
No clouds in the sky and the sun is shining brightly blinding my vision slightly. The mountains in the distance are so large you feel you can reach out and touch them; even though they are half a days hike from where I stand. I walk around the ruins of a old mud ruin that used to be someones home. The walls are yellow in color just like the land surrounding the area. The cold winter wind coming down from the mountains biting into my skin and kicking up small dust devils. These dust devils spin like a small tornado from three feet to thirty feet across and reach so high you lose sight of where they end. They remind of moving pillars that are holding up the heavens moving across the surface of this dead land. The land is barren and with the jagged mountains in the distance would make you think your on the surface of Mars. Another world this truly seems.
The walls of the mud structure are crumbling apart even when you touch what is left of the wall. Pieces fall and powder like dust fills the air like old spirits letting you know that life once existed here. The locals believe in Jinns which in our society is known as a Geni. Jinns are are known to be creatures that are not here to benefit humans. The locals say they live in abandon buildings and also known to travel within dust devils.
The Village in the far distance which is out of my sight and will take most of the day to travel by vehicle to reach. There are no roads leading to the isolated village across this barren land filled with small jagged rocks and dust that is like fine powder. You will never find this village on any map and you won't even be able to pronounce the villages name if I told you. Even I can't write down the name to be read by you to correctly pronounce the village's name.
The people there live very simple farming life growing small crops just enough to survive. From day to day and year to year they live. They live in place and time that reminds you hundreds of years ago that majority humanity was living in. Their fields receive water that comes down from the mountain side like blood flowing through your veins. The people and nature live a very parasitic and symbolic life. So simple and beautiful. Words can never truly explain fully what I am writing.
The villagers told me of these ruins where I stand right now is where I might be able to catch a glimpse of the dragon that sleeps up in the mountain. The dragon in the morning spits a jewel out of it's belly into the sky. When night comes the jewel falls from the sky and the dragon swallows the jewel and holds it in it's belly all night until morning. The jewel the locals believe is the Sun. No one dares in this area to enter the mountains to see if the dragon is real. I told the locals I would go into mountains and see if this dragon exist. They begged not to go, so I told them I won't enter the mountains. I asked them where can I get the best chance to see the dragon from the distance. They told me about this old ruins which used be a farm over 100 years ago. But they also warned this area of the land is cursed and dead and is full of Jinns.
Now the jewel in sky began falling back over the horizon behind the mountains to be engulfed by the dragon in the mountains. You can see the mountains jagged edges sticking out of the surface like dragons teeth tearing into the sky. Then just as the jewel set over the side of the mountains and cold wind began to bite my skin so much more violently.
There was bright flash from the mountains just as the jewel disappeared. You can see the flashes of light reflecting off of the clouds. Then came the sound of thunder. But it wasn't thunder it was war. The sound of artillery striking the valley on the other side of mountain. Will the locals near here who believe in dragon think there was a Omen that very night? Would they fear that the Sun will never rise the next day? Would they think the dragon has awoken?
All I know is a few things are surely true the Sun won't rise for some who breath this very night and that a dragon has awoken; but not the dragon the locals know. I am not alone as I head towards to mountain in the distance where the dragon slumbers. For the unknown to others who are coming from the other side of the mountain towards us. They are entering the jaws of a dragon and we plan to see the Sunrise. Another world, Another time.
