what do you guys think about diet soft drinks and other sugar free sweetener products (sugar free jello, popsicles, jelly, etc.) while dieting? i have read some studies where one group of subjects were given regular soft drinks routinely, and the other group was given diet soft drinks at the same frequency. the two groups gained the same amount of weight.
some say that for your brain to recognize a "sweet" flavor, it physiologically spikes insulin levels. the exact same thing that happens when you take in real sugar.
i drink 1 or 2 diet soft drinks a day when im dieting to keep cravings down, but im really starting to feel like i should avoid sugar free products.
