is it necassary to put the already closed vial in an autoclave after filtered with a 0.22 Filter (bottle top)? Just wondering because I read about it...

if it aint broke, dont try to fix it. .45's have been the main filter size used by the majority for as long as with no problems

Guys use .45 and don't have any problems in the real world.

But if you want to use .20/.22, then go ahead. I do.

There are "some" spores that can fit through a 45. Unless you slosh your gear in the toilet prior to brewing I doubt you'll pick up enough bacteria and nasties to make any difference once injected (considering you used a <45 micron filter).

That said, do I feel better using a .22? You bet your ass I do.

It gaves labs which does not filter anyway. I´ve heard from labs who uses coffee filters only for the big particles. And in there opinion BA should do his job. But I dont appreciate this method.

.45 has been popular for a long time, but it definitely won't hurt you to use the .22
