finastride, letrozole, and grapefruit

I've been getting conflicting stories on what grapefruit actually does with certain meds... such as finastride, and letrozole... if you read the labels they both say do not take with grapefruit... is that because it can increase or decrease their effects... one medical site said it can block finastride and lessen its affect... one hair loss site said to take it with grapefruit to enhance it's affect... :Pat:

I know grapefruit can increases the amount of some meds in the bloodstream... which sounds good on paper when you think it's putting more in the blood stream... but if the concentration is more because it is being prevented from being metabolized by the body and just building up in the bloodstream to a possible toxic level not being used... then that's not so good...

I'm about to start a cycle and going to use both finastride and letro... and I love grapefuit... usually eat one twice a day and drink grapefruit juice occasionally...

Trying to figuire out the real story on if I should stop eating the grapefruit... anyone know for sure with these two???

Thanks for your help...

Probably want to stay away from any citrus fruit. The acid in them will prevent the meds from being properly absorbed. They work best is a nutural PH balance.

changing the metabolism of any drug leaves you guessing on its potency

unless you know conclusively via studies the effects of grapefruit juice on a specific drug i would avoid it

its best to stay in control and know what dose is delivered
