Free test or total test

Hey bro's got a question......After being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for a while now got another blood test through the doc. My #"s went from a 470 to a 299 on total test and a 2.9 to a 2.1 on free test. My doc says the total test is not important and the Free test is what is important and that i am in the "upper high" end of the scale that is 1.0--2.2. I am worried that the 299 # needs to be closer to 900 to be in the upper range based on my resarch but he is saying that the Free test is what is important. I could believe him but wanted to check with you guys first because he also is the same doc that says i dont need an AI.....

So my question is, that is it true that the free is what i need to look at??

and part 2 to that question is how do you suppose my free is so high with my total being low??

no ude - total test is the number that is your test level and YES, it should be 900. fuck free test - it deosn't mean shit - its test that is not absorbed and not doing shit.

if u r at 299 you gotta feel like shit

If you ask your doc to "check your test
levels" 9 of 10 they will check total test #s.
It is the measurement by my doctor used
to put me on TRT.

That's a really good question man. I actually had a very similar experience. My total T came in at a pathetic 350. And my Free T was at 2.21%. Which was actually listed as "out of range" on the high end. But that's the percentage you're talking about.

That's still 2.2% of your already low total testosterone levels. You want to look at the pg/mL units. For instance mine came in at 77.4 pg/mL

The reference range for this lab for Free T was 35 - 155 pg/mL. So your numbers probably look similar. And yeah it should probably still be considered low. Then again I'm not an expert so who knows...

free test is natural free floating test. so thats what hes talking about. but u have to realize what he knows an what we know are two diff things. ur not getting a dose of test like we would take cuz face it u dont grow as much bcuz they dont give u as much on trt. from a doctors standpoint or a testosterone replacement therapy standpoint that might b normal but it does seem pretty fucking low to me too. if u were on a regular cycle dose say 500 mgs a week it should b around 900. glad i could help a bit. also those type docs usually wont perscribe pct/ai's.

Your free test is high because it is not being bound up. That however does not mean anything if your total test level is not high enough and I can tell you that it is not, unless you're 92 that is. Your doctor is an idiot and should be replaced. He is fucking you up by reducing your test from 470 to 299. At 470 you were not high enough!
