Headed to Vegas/UFC!!!

Hey everyone! I'm out for a week, at least, headed to Vegas tomorrow to compete in the two-day grappling/BJJ tournament, visit the UFC Fan expo and attend UFC100!!!!!! :) I'll also be training at Xtreme Couture part of the week and a few days at Wany's new gym. I'll report back when return! Hopefully I'll have some good pic's ;) We still got that Avi bet, right Dirk????? Lesner/Mir???? Don't tell me you forgot? :nono: :laugh4:
 
If you don't write the longest post ever on the details of your debachery and training with legends I will pick the worst avatar ever.
 
How was your trip JayC? are you still a little deaf, I bet the place fealt like an earthquake huh. lucky bastard
 
I regretted opening this thread back up!..lol Oh man, I was praying Dirk forgot.. but I'll man up! ;) Just got back from Vegas yesterday and man was it amazing!! Probably hands down one of the best trips I've ever had. The town was electric that whole week. ..and for UFC 100 we had the seats right over the walkout tunnel. We got the thumbs up from the Hammer when he came out. I couldn't even begin to tell the entire story of the night, let alone the whole week. We either partied with, met, or trained with every major fighter! We went 48 hours on maybe 2 hours sleep and at one point were up for probably 26 hours straight. For a fighter and fan, it was like achieving Zen. I can die a happy man now. ..and I even won my Gi division at the UFC-Grapplers Quest tournament that weekend. Also trained at Randy's (Xtreme Coutures) that week and although lots of bad ass fighters were there (Vitor, Griffin, Maynard, Stout, Kampmann, etc.) I wasn't real impressed with the instruction, classes, etc.. Between me and my brothers camera's we've got 100's of pic's. I haven't even gotten them all downloaded yet.
I'll definetly post more on stories and pic's as I get settled and things downloaded but here a few I've got now. Questions are welcome as well!! :)

First pic is the medal I won at the tourny. Second is a funny story...lol Found Bobby Lashley hanging out by himself at a club (EyeCandie).. no one even recognized him except me! Hung out w/him for a few hours, cool guy! The pic is him with me and my bro. He must be off cycle cuz he looked pretty small to me. The third is me & Paulo Thiago after his fight.. super cool dude! Hell, everyone was cool, no ego's at all!! Well, except for Cowby Ceronne..lol

Can do :)
1. first match, set up the collar choke while standing then pulled guard to finish it. as he postured up to avoid the choke I hit the arm bar. match lasted about 40 sec's total.
next was a pretty boring match.. me and a guy from Top Team in Canada were pretty evenly match.. infact he beat me the day before in no-gi and went on to take first.. but he only beat me 2-1 by laying on me the whole time. Well I beat him in the gi tourny 4-0 and it was just taken downs and tranisitions. Next match was pretty similar and won it 9-0. Qtr final match I took the guy down got side control and after several failed attempts to mount, I set up a kimura and sub'd him at about 2 min's in. Finals was tough and went up against a guy from SoCal who sub'd his way through his side of the bracket. The match went back and forth and I ended up holding on and winning 9-7.
2. Since I dropped to lightweight (155) for MMA, I did this tourny at 160-169 which is welterweight in BJJ. I was weighing maybe 162 because I was supposed to have an mma fight when I got back but my guy pulled out already.

thanks bro! Still white because I haven't been doing Gi nearly as long as freestyle/no gi jits. The gi is definetly a whole different world. I actually like it better but alot guys (especially wrestlers) have a tough time with it. but winning this tourny just got me another stripe :) so I hope to get my blue belt pretty soon. I train gi under Rickson Gracie's system so my instructor puts alot of stock in tourny's and competition so guys like me who like to compete and travel for competitions can make rank a little faster.
 
Good stuff. The same thing that happened with Lashley happened with me and Seth Petrizelli. I was in a club a couple months after the Kimbo fight and it was fucking packed and no recognized him. He was cool as shit and I even fucked with him about throwing a running away jab. He laughed and I'm kinda glad because he actually is bigger than I expected. I'm 6'1" 200 and he was looking around 230-240 or so. I'll post a funny pic of us later.

What about bitches?
