How much protein is needed in the morning?

From my understanding, the reasoning behind needing to consume protein in the morning is that your body is placed in a catabolic state due to sleep, and it is in dire need of protein to rebuild muscle tissue. I suppose my first question is, is this correct information?

Second, how much protein is needed here? Right now I eat 10 oz. of chicken right when I wake up, I'm looking to switch that for a more traditional breakfast (4 tbsp peanut butter, 1 cup oatmeal, banana). Obviously there is significantly more protein in the chicken, but will I get enough from the PB/oatmeal to be fine (about 26g protein)?

I like to drink a protein shake the second i wake up..Its around 30g of protein...If im not lazy ill eat about 6 eggs with a banana and oatmeal for carbs..Im a believer in eating every 2-3 hours a nice healthy meal of good proteins and good long carbs throughout the day..Only time i eat sugars is post workout..

I have a shake or BCAAs with some fruit the second I wake up. Then shortly after I have my whole food meal.

Or I have a shake and whole meal (egg whites and oats) all blended together with other things added to make an awesome shake.

I would gag if I tried to eat a chicken breast in the morning lol gross.

30-40 grams is what I like with each meal. I used to do more but lately have been taking less that I used to and notice no difference at all.

Lol to shredder.. Yeah if your waking up and eating a whole chicken breast, obviously it's not nice moist freshly cooked,, it's dry hard to swallow left overs. That's rough.

Upon waking, well after I do my morning cardio which is slaying the hot wife with some raging morning wood, I down a protein shake with milk. Have some coffee, then have a traditional breakfast-- 4 eggs scrambled with cheese and ground buffalo meat, bowl of oatmeal, fruit etc.

But breakfast, ie breaking your fast as quickly as possible with fast acting protein is a good idea IMO
