If we gain 5 pound of muscle...

Bloody Q

I am banned!
If we gain 5 pound of muscle per cycle, why we eat like a horse? Just eat right, for example 500+ calorie.

advanced BB's may gain 5-10lbs muscle coming out of off season. These guys have to eat like a hourse anyway just to maintain the size they already have. New guys who have ran a cycle or 2 can gain more. The longer you have cycled the harder it gets. It's called diminishing returns.

To actually gain 5lbs of muscle is a feat in a year's time. To gain 5lbs of weight can happen over the holidays. Some seem to confuse the two...

to gain 5 pounds of pure muscle you probably have to put on about 20 pounds of 'wet' weight with it, (blood volume, water, glycogen etc.),, and that is not including 'fat' weight put on with it.

so just 'eating right' is not gonna put on that type of weight and muscle

That's a pretty common practice. We don't preach to eat ridiculous amounts of food..

We always recommend someone start with TDEE + environmental factors (jobs) + exercise + 500-1000 calories. This is generally a good place to start gaining.. but will take constant adjustment as the weight comes on to keep it coming on. 500-1000 calorie additions are common practice for that as well.

Eating too far over that amount.. say all of those factors + 2000 calories.. that may put weight on, but muscle just doesn't grow that quickly and so the body will put on shit loads of fat in the process.

It's hard to judge just how much one will need to eat for the calories lost at a job, or the calories lost during exercise.. as we all react differently to certain stimulus. But getting to a point where weight is shifting down or up is a good indicator of whether to make caloric adjustments according to your goal.
