Low Testosterone and dr. thinks it is fine

I got some test labs a month apart. The lab's reference range is 160-726 ng/dl. First one was 116 and a month later 247. I bumped up the test by eating a ton of button mushrooms and adding in zinc, magnesium, vit D and vit C. I was actually surprised it worked, but still not enough to bring back the morning wood.

Also tested SEX HORMONE BINDING GLOB. Ref Range - 10-57 nmol/L Me = 8
FSH and LH were on the lower end of normal and not of concern. I didn't get any estradiol numbers.

I'm 34 and I personally think that their reference range is out of whack. I couldn't get the docs to do anything about it, despite arguing for a while and showing them what their peers have written on the subject. Basically, they think that I'll just burn out my balls and end up in worse shape. I happen to miss my testosterone... Anyway, it really seems to respond to the anti-estrogen in mushrooms. To prepare for the next lab, I've got grape seed extract, saw palmetto, and some milk thistle going as an experiment. I am considering topical formestane or a pro-hormone as well, depending on results. I'm going to make sure I get estradiol tested on the next lab as well.

Has anyone actually gotten results from topical formestane or is it a farce? I've considered giving my hypogonadic test rat aromasin to see if it increase total testosterone by creating a shortage in the feedback loop. It is interesting to note that the SHBG is low, since high estrogen causes high SHBG as well.

I still can't get over the fact the docs think that number is normal. So what do you guys do when the numbers don't come back?

I was having every symptom of low T. So i went to get tested. The range was from 398-1100..i was at 490. Doc says "well your normal" .I say so whats the problem. He says he don't know, but your normal. I'm 28 and at the bottom of the "normal" bucket. I don't have the time to look for another doctor so I just ordered Test myself. Been on for 6 weeks...ironically all the symptoms are gone and I feel great.

My doctor thought I just wanted him to precribe me Steroids. He didn't take me seriously at all. Even saying "your getting old you know"

My doctor sucked. Didn't even bother to diagnose why I was having all these symptoms

If I were you I would be trying an HPTA restart since you have Secondary Hypogonadism. Clomid is going to do a lot more for you than mushrooms ever will.

By the way, TRT will "burn out" your balls. They shrink while you are on TRT because they are not being used to produce Testosterone anymore. Although, HCG can help counteract this but it is expensive.

Ah. Thanks. Searching hpta restart on the forum got me a ton of study material. I wasn't searching for the right terms.
I had specifically asked the doc to try some alternatives like aromatase blockers etc. I was basically told that they only do trt and at my age I would regret it later.
I will give my natty anti -estrogen concoction another month and see where I am at with both test and estrogens before moving up to research grade experiments. I bet that with my shbg levels I don't have much estradiol either. After more research, I think prescription strength aromatase blockers will only make me feel worse. I will probably try the hcg restart mentioned.

When you are Natty, taking an AI has a different effect than you might expect since the HPTA feedback loop is still open. But that is a different conversation.

Check out the Basic TRT Overview sticky in this forum. And definitely keep reading up on restarts.

TRT should only be done with a doctors supervision or somebody who has studied so much about the entire subject in a whole that they damn well might as well be a doctor... lol like our beloved AUSTINITE. Theirs not many people who are smart enough to fully understand every aspect of a blood test. Its easy to figure out estrogen and free testosterone and cholesterol levels and all that. But their is a lot more to TRT than what meets the eye. Also 6 weeks is basically just long enough for it to kick in and no side effects to show up yet. Plus it is very hard to keep your hormones on a level basis when every other fucking UGL is scamming people by giving them fake stuff.

You might have a couple good UGL's and then boom one day they are gone and you are left trying to salvage what you need from random UGL sites just trusting reviews. Lol that is why I recommend going to one of our TRT sponsors and doing a restart or actually getting on real TRT. Their is no way I would ever attempt to do it on my own. Maybe when I was younger and thought I knew more I would have. But the more I learn about steroids and how the body works the more I realize how much I don't really know. What I am trying to say is the body as a whole is a very complicated thing and you cant expect to be able to balance your whole body out without some sort of medical degree. Or being close to a genius when it comes to how steroids work and how the body works.
