Need to vent after a vist to my doctor

I'm a bit frustrated.

I'm a 51 year old man, living with a degenerative neuro-muscular disease, similar to muscular dystrophy.

The best and brightest medical minds in the country, have basically told me to "Hope for the best", while offering no real treatment.

Several years ago I had weakened enough that I could no longer safely transfer from my wheelchair to my bed. I was losing my independence, and I was pissed. I needed to try something, so I read up a bit on steroids, having heard that they were sometimes prescribed for muscle wasting in AIDS patients. I thought I'd try that. The medical community, as expected, reacted like I asked for heroine, so I bought some off the internet.

I didn't want to jump in the deep end, so I was only taking 5mg of Stanozolol a day. After a couple of weeks, I was able to do the little things that kept me independent. I told my doctor, and he finally did some looking into it, and agreed that the benefits exceeded the risks. He wrote a prescription for 5mg per day, that I sent to a compounding pharmacy. He kept a close eye on my lipids, and liver function.

My condition seemed to stabilize. I was happy, felt good, and for the first time in twenty years, felt like I had a future. I even met a woman, and got married.

Fast forward a bit. My doctor moved away. I spent two years dealing with diverticulitis, that drained the life out of me. I had that cut out last year, and have been trying to get back my strength, but it wasn't coming. Two years away from Stanozolol. I knew my testosterone would be low. It was 275. Not as low as I thought.

I've been injecting 100mg of test E, every two weeks, for four months. My labs are 635, 21.7 free testosterone.

I'm not getting back to where I was, but I'm close. I can feel it. Maybe it's the natural progression of my disease, maybe not. I need, and want that little extra bump, so I am again independent. I did not get married to be nursed.

I want to try adding my old friend Winstrol (winny), but my new doctors won't even listen to me. Oral steroids! Your liver will DIE! Never mind that it's a very small dose. Never mind that they'd be able to monitor me. Never mind that I did it for years, taking short breaks, with NO side effects. Never mind that it gave me back my life.

Hell, it might not do one damned bit of good at this point, but God Damn, don't you know if it was them that couldn't get in their own bed, they'd be screaming to try anything.

Doctors suck.

I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination in dealing with your condition, but I will make a few suggestions.

To begin with, I think you will find you feel better and have more strength if you inject test weekly, rather than eow.

You may also want to research and consider adding Deca & Anavar rather than Winstrol (winny), as they have both been utilized with good results in HIV/AIDS patients.

I understand this is not what you suffer from, but you indicated that it is similiar in the aspect of muscle wasting.

After reading the title I almost didnt click on this thread. I thought it was another one from Apollon

That's a pretty low testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose. You should look at bumping it up to 100-200mg per week. You are only taking 50mg per week. Don't go straight to 200. Work your way up slowly and see how you feel. Just monitor your Total Test and keep in in the normal range.

I agree completely that injecting once every two weeks is bad. Once a week is better. Better still is every 3.5 days. It keeps your levels more even and reduces the unwanted spikes in estradiol. As far as estradiol, make sure you are monitoring that too. You can get fast, cheap lab work done using Private MD - Buy Lab Tests Online. The Female Hormone Panel (it is for men too) is a good basic one to go with and it costs about $50. You can order the labs yourself -- no need to go through your doctor.

A low dose of Deca might be the thing for you as 2rude4u suggested. It will make you feel stronger. You have to be very careful with your estradiol and prolactin while you are on it though. I would try making a dose of deca equal to whatever your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) testosterone dose is. It takes a while to kick in. But you should notice it in about 6-8 weeks. It is nice for nagging joint pain too if you suffer from that at all.

Good luck!

All solid advice above, except for the tren comment (good one though). I wish you luck and to be honest, I think if you listen to Rude and Megatron, you'll be feeling a lot better soon. Again I wish you well, and welcome to 'Ology!

Thanks for the help, everybody.

I've got a prescription for Test E. If I increase my dose much, I'll need to supplement my supply. I don't see that as a problem. Injecting every week is something I already planned to start. I was at the end of a vial last week, so I shot 75mg. I didn't give it much thought at the time, but noticed a bit more energy for a few days afterwards.

I'd really like to try Anavar, but it seems pretty hard to find the real thing. Deca sounds good but I have a few questions.

I read about Deca on this site, and others. Deca suppresses natural T production. Since I'm already on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), I suppose it would further suppress my natural T production, resulting in a need for greater supplementation. Am I on the right track? Before testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) my total T was 235, with it's 635.

Lord, I really sound like a newbie. I did read all of the newbie stickies, honest.

At any rate, I'm ready to try something. I've found a couple of domestic sources to check out. Years ago, when I bought Winstrol (winny) it was from overseas. The third time, I got the customs letter. Not interested in reminding Uncle Sam that I exist.

By taking exogenous test you have already fully suppressed your natty T. That ship has sailed. You can check your current LH and FSH to confirm. You don't have to worry about suppressing it more. Can't go below zero.

I'd suggest doing these steps in order:
1. Up your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose up to 150/wk (slowly and over the next month or so) stay there for another month and see how you're feeling

2. Try Anavar at a small dose. Start at 10mg/day for a couple weeks and see how that feels. I'd expect it to be better than Winstrol (winny) but that's me as it will be much better on lipids and more flexible with dosing (i'm sure you could go up to 40mg/day for extended periods without ruining your labs)

3. As mentioned above try HGH. Can't get much safer with just 3-4iu's/day and it could make a big difference in how you feel

Stone

Hazardous
First off, this is your life, your body and your health. So don't be concerned with what most GP's tell you, as they are most likely very uninformed on the subject and just simply not willing to take the risk involved with prescribing these compounds to you.
If I was in your shoes and not looking to really build mass, but maintain and increase strength I would look into around 150-200 mg/week test E split 2x week. Something like 10-20 mg Anavar (var) a day and I cannot stress how much I agree with the GH comment. I would go 1-3 ius daily. Now cost can be an issue with GH, so if that is the case def secure your androgens first. The GH will be the icing on the cake and you will not regret it.
Def go domestic when ordering and since you're dealing with Anavar (var) which is much more likely to be fake/something else make sure to do your research. You'll find a good source is not difficult to come by.
It's cases like yours that pain me to see these drugs scheduled so highly, as the quality of like you can gain is tremendous.
One thing, I think you would also really like deca. But many do have sexual sides, so factor this in your decision. It Anavar (var) ies greatly from person to person so the only way to know is give it a try. It won't be permanent by any means, so if it becomes a problem you could just simply stop.

What type of MD do you have? DO they know the exact gene that is mutant? Are you Becker or one of the limb-girdle MDs? Sounds like an irrelevant question but it might not be. I might be able to give you some insight

I totally agree with doing a weekly dose and adding deca. I'm forty, and my last cycle of prop and deca made me feel years younger. Deca + test= yummy

I've got some domestic deca, var, and extra test E on the way. I'll see what that does for me. I've gone weekly, up from eow with my test E, and bumped it up a bit. Maybe it's in my head, but I feel a little more alive, though no stronger. I may go to every four or five days. I'll see how I react once my goodies arrive.

I'd love to try HGH, but it is a bit expensive. Would a months supply be enough to tell if it'll help?

Moppy1, I don't have MD. It's just similar, and a condition people can identify with. I've been to The Mayo Clinic, and spent weeks at The National Institutes of Health. They say they've never seen my condition. Genetic testing shows no identifiable markers. Genetic test for spinal muscular atrophy are negative, though I'm told a negative is not necessarily conclusive. I had it done again recently, as a neurologist said the test had been changed. Still negative.

I've spent my whole life living in a state of declining strength, except while I was taking steroids. At this point, I'm tired of looking for an exact cause. Fifty years wasted, if you go by results. The next fifty years are going to be on my terms.

Again, thanks to all for your input and encouragement.
