Hi everyone. My name's John.I've been lifting since I was roughly 14 years old.I took some time off after a lower back injury & rotator cuff surgery, but I've been basically working out my whole life.I'm 46 soon to be 47 this April.

I did a couple of cycles T when I was 18.(Dumb move I know.I had plenty of it in me back then).I honestly didn't know what it was.My buddy said they gave it to race horses.(LOL hey it was the eighties)All I know is I was 165 & benching 350 & squatting 500.I loved the strength. It was addicting, but before I messed with all that I just loved getting pumped & I still do.

Now I'm on TRT because my T level was 57.(terribly low!).I'm taking the gel.It helps a lot.I got my levels to the 800-900 range & I feel much better.I've been thinking of getting something more to boost my gains.Still not sure. It's tough growing muscle in your 40's.I work twice as hard as when I was in my twenties & have half the results.

I don't really know what to say in these intros so I come off as rambling a lot of times. :tounge2:

Arnold has always been my favorite bodybuilder with Big Lou & Franco at a close second.

Anyways thanks for having me.

Welcome to the board!

I got on TRT at 49 and within a few months had results in terms of strength and muscle that eluded me all my life before that - even though I've been hobby bodybuilding since I was 16.

You didn't say how long you've been on TRT, but you might be surprised!

I've been on TRT for about three years now Mprtz.

I started on injections Megatron28.I didn't really like it as much as the gel because the first few days were great then the rest of the week It was dropping rapidly. Then I shot it twice a week Mon & Thurs, which worked good, although my ass felt like a pin cushion.I had to change doctors because the DEA pulled my first docs license to prescribe narcotics. He's under investigation. It's pretty ugly.My second doctor refuses to prescribe injectables. So I'm pretty much stuck with the gel at the moment.I apply 50mg a day & it keeps my levels around a 1000,give or take a hundred.

Thanks for the welcomes

Are you managing estradiol? Did you while on injections?

No I have no idea what that is.I was injecting Testosterone Cypionate for 2.5 years.I just recently started the gel the past 6 months.

Estradiol is a type of estrogen. Testosterone aromatizes (converts) into estrogen. If your estrogen gets too high you can have unwanted side effects like acne, moodiness, edema, water retention, gynecomastia, etc.

It is extremely important to manage estradiol when on TRT. Gels especially are notoriously high aromatizes. Surely you have talked with your doctors about this!

I would encourage you to read the following thread.

Welcome to ology!

You're only as old as who you feel. ;)

Errrrrrrrrr, something like that. :)

Tron has you covered, but I just wanted to say 46 isn't old. We have guys on here in their 50's and beyond that outshine twenty-somethings. :wiggle:

I get blood tests every three months. My doctor is a urologist.I'm sure he's keeping an eye on it.I'll bring it up on my next visit. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.I knew about the gynecomastia.I always worried about that happening to me.It never did though. The most I got were a few extra pimples & some extra hair on my back & chest.

Actually, you really shouldn't assume your doc knows to check your estradiol. Hang around and you will see how many guys have clueless doctors. The best advice I can give you is to gain the knowledge so you are capable of advocating for your own health.

Does estradiol have another name in a blood analysis report?I'm looking through some old ones to see if I can find it.
