As the title suggests,

Is it true that having very limited amount of Carbs in your diet, while weight training, will affect how much muscle gain you make?
:eek2:

I've heared it down the grape vine and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

Seems true Im currently dieting and taking in only 120 grabs of carbs daily and my strength and intensity at the gym are both down and my musles dont feel as full nor as tight as they usually do.

It's true you won't feel as thick or hard when reducing carbs whenever I cut the complex carbs back i try to increase simple carbs more fruits and greens seems to help me!!

To a certain extent. Remeber, the main purpose of carbohydrates for us is to supply energy for our workouts. But, if you if your taking 300g/carbs a day, do you think 350 or 450 will give you more energy?

Point is, take as much carbs as you need not want. No point in gaining fat.

also another point to remember is that there are very sorts of carbs tho at the end of the day the body ultimately wants to convert all types into energy etc etc

sugers for example get used almost immediately where rices potato are sustainable which therefore linger in the body overtime and take longer to use

im no scientist but there is loads of info on the net about this

high glyc and low glycemic etc

you defin want some sugers right after or 30 min before training for an insulin spike (honey, or something, spoon it in) followed by a meal with sustain carbs rice, pasta etc 1 hour or so after with your meat, veg etc

all the best

One rule that got burned in my mind from taking a basic college biology course is that anabolic reactions within a organism need energy to take place. I think complex carbs are the best for muscle growth. People always go nuts over protein but many forget the protein needs energy for the chemical reactions to take place that make it part of your body.

I cant live without carbs..
If i lower the amount i have i get grumpy lose half my power & end up looking flat lol
