What do you think is the optimal percentage of fat, carbs and protein for a bulking diet to gain lean mass. Ive heard 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat and then Ive also heard 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat. Im inclined to lean towards the second option but wanted to hear everyone elses opinion. Thanks, Chelsea

It's pretty individual. I always like to recommend the Metabolic Diet by Maro Dipasquale. That way you can find the optimal rations for YOU since everyone is different. There are people that can bulk on higher fat and lower carbs while others do the opposite. The only real rule is high protein and at least some carbs.

BTW, I think "lean bulker" is an oxymoron :D

lean bulker, hmmm,,, as in only muscle no fat.

hes a bulky football player (hes big and fat)

shes bulking up in size (she getting fat)

i think lean bulker is more accurate to no fat just muscle.

one word that i hate is girth. that girl got girth.

girthy and bulky (obese)

chichy

After putting my diet for the past week in fitday, I realized that I am currently eating 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat. Im between 2500 and 3000 calories a day. Any suggestions????? Thanks, Chelsea

Hey Chelses, like Frosty said, every one has his/her own optimal ratios.
I, for example tend to get quite a lot of fat too, besides muscles, in the bulking process and that's why i discovered it's better for me to stay with 50% protein, 40% carb and 10% fat. Anywhay around these figures. That for a diet of about 3000 calories, planning to get 4000 next month.

cheers
