if i had to go one way, id go the first way. ive read a bit about pyramiding carbs like the second option, and i just dont see a point. i would say, referring to option 1, 150 carbs is too high, and 2g pro/body lb is also too high. i would do 100-120 carbs/1.5-1.75 pro/body lb. sun-fri and 300-400g carbs/1.5g pro on sat. also, what are your fats like? and how much do you weigh? how much cardio?

dtone has already given some solid feed back. Ya, I'd really want to know your weight, size/height, easy gainer/hard gainer, etc..
I'm running a new diet my trainer and I set up and its a carb cycling type diet. Its not for a BB contest but for a competition none the less, and mine is basically Mon-low carb, Tue-high carb, Wed-low carb, Thu-high carb then Fri-Sun low. We set it up like that because my longest/hardest days seem to tue & thur. I'm running 90-110g carbs on low days and 190-230g on high days. My fat is obviously higher on low days and very low on on high carb days. I keep my protein at 50% or higher of total cals.

been dieting 3weeks now and im down to 250lbs with around 11% bf.

Mainly healthy fat around 90g on th low carb days and around 125g on th high carb days.

reasoning behind the high carb dsays is to promote muscle growth and stat anabolic and further boost metabolism.

90-125g fat (healthy or not) is incredibly too much fat. i agree that you should up your fat on low carb days, but only 15-20g higher than it is on your high carb days. imo, the highest your fat should get, even on low carb days, is 60g. you should be between 30-45g fat on high carb days. jesus man, your show prep diet is worse than my offseason bulk diet! JayC has a solid carb cycle, alter it to fit your heavy lifting days. and for the love of god, drop your fat and carbs and up protein if you have to.

Yeah fat is pretty high. What has worked better for me is more drastic carb cycling. Something like 300g, 300g, 0g, right back up to 300g, 300g, 0g. On the 0 carb day maybe up fat to 90 or so. The high carb days around 30g fat. I would keep protein consistent at around 300-350g. I you are right about the high carb days keeping you anabolic and speeding up metabolism, but it won't promote muscle growth. I don't think it's possible to grow anymore on a contest diet. Getting shredded is the only focus now.

Good man.. just remember, Sat-sun the fats need to be ROCK BOTTOM/LOW!!

Thanks dtone! And I think JayC is right. You are raising carbs by almost 300g and dropping fat by only 8g. I would take the PB out those days and only eat egg whites. You will still end up around 25-30g from fats in your meat, etc. Which IMO is perfect for a high carb day. This could also be something you could switch to later in your diet if you aren't satisfied with how you are progressing. How long are you dieting?

22wks in total.

Want to bring it in really slow and not make any drastic changes late on.

Would rather maintain my diet through out making small changes if needed

2comps in oct 18 and 31st

22 weeks! Damn that's a long diet...LOL. Best of luck to you! You are gonna be freaking starving by the end of this!

quick question: didn't really want to start a new thread as this thread seems active.

If on a cutting diet, are canned grean beans count as a vegetable? are they any good? If I am eating a chicken breast with green beans for lunch and dinner is that good? having a carb with lunch as well.

speaking of carbs with lunch, if I were to cut my chicken breast and put it between whole wheat bread is that a bad carb to include or is it okay? or should I stick with a cup of oatmeal or brown rice or sweet potatoe? Bread is more convenient for me thats why I ask but if its not good I won't do it.

green beans are fine, i stay away from bread. convenience typically means not diet worthy. start your own thread next time.
