Pre workout

What do you guys do for pre workout? Eat a meal with whole foods, or run a quick digesting protein with a high glycemic carb like dextrose?

What would be the advantage of one over the other in your opinion?
 
I prefer a full meal about an hour before. I just cant workout full speed with something sloshing around in my gut too close to lift time. Ive read plenty stating it makes little difference either way.
