pulse oximeter and oxygen pulse

i am considering spending the dough on a pulse oximeter to measure my oxygen pulse. oxygen pulse is the percent of heamoglobin that is carrying oxygen. i have limited experience with experiment with this wonderful tool. my last experiment used ginseng to determine its benefit on my own oxygen pulse. does any1 here have any links or information on learning to experiment like a professional? does any1 have experience with their own use of a pulse oximeter? id like to hear experience. my main goal is to learn how to learn about pulse oximetry with the use of exercise and medicine. thankyaaa!

buying this would be a waste. I do anesthesia, and the only reason to have a pulse oximeter is to measure the amount of SATURATED hemoglobin. unless you have some respiratory disease, hang around carbon monoxide all day, or smoke ridiculous amounts of cigarettes, checking your pulse ox is pointless. normal values are anywhere from the low 90's to 100%. it can change constantly, but monitoring a pulse ox wont tell you much except that your lungs are exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen, and that oxygen is making its way to your tissues.

Oxygen saturation literally means how much oxygen is in a person's blood. The oxygen binds to hemoglobin.Pulse oximetry is a very fast and noninvasive method of measuring oxygen saturation in arterial blood. They can't be reliable with a poor signal.A person's level of oxygen saturation should always be between 95 and 99 percent.
