I am 5'11 215 pounds. I've pretty much always been thick and i really want to lose some weight and tone up. I was hoping someone had some helpful hints about how would be the best way to go about this. I hear people tell me to start lifting - low weight high reps. But i really want to shed 20 pounds of fat too. And i was wondering if anyone knew of the best weight lose supplement out there right now?
Thanks

best thing is to cut all junk out of your diet, try to get the majority of your carbs from fresh green vegetables, and eat lean meats and fish. Turn your lifting routine into circuit program--fast paced to get your heart pumping. Try not to eat at the end of the day, let your body be somewhat calorie deficient at the end of the day. Hopefully this helps.

ditto diet should always come first. Most people try to train their ass of but continue to eat like shit, kind of an all for not kind of thing. If your diet is all in check and fat loss is your main concern, then I'd say go ahead with the high reps, but if you want to try and get stronger while losing fat (possible, but don't expect overnight results) I
d say try a different routine.

Basically starting from scratch again, i used to lift but have been out of it for probably 3 years.
Does anyone know of maybe a weight loss supplement that would help, i used to take diet fuel but that was 3 years ago and i have no idea whats healthy or out there now.

THanks for the help everyone

Supplements aren't your worry right now imo.

Okay. So we're just starting back after a hiatus. That's fine. Happens to everyone. Like we all don't have real lives.

Seriously I'd skip trying to take a fat burner right now. See what you can do on your own.

Muscle memory is awesome so just get back in there, cut the junk in the diet, and we'll see where we go from there.

Give it a few weeks and see what happens. No need to go balls to the wall off the bat.

In a couple weeks we'll have another look.

One more question.
I have a membership to a gym thats open 24 hours a day. I prefer to work out at like 11 at night.
Is there anything wrong with working out that late?

thanks

Dont think so. Im the same brother. Just makes sure you have a good, clean and lite meal before bed to prevent catabolism as you sleep.

Actual muscle tone is not best achieved with low weights and high reps because muscle tone is primarily a result of a muscle's myofibral and sarcomeral density as well as its neurogenic sensitivity. These are best developed through high-tension (as in heavy) and/or high-speed lifting. The low weight high rep lifting will be good for the first 2-3 weeks to help you develop the necessary intermuscular grooves for the exercises again. Stick with the basics. A good diet combined with regular interval training will do the most towards losing the fat. A good start with the diet is to make sure you limit your daily calories to roughly 12x bodyweight, get at least roughly one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight a day, cut out all refined sugars, and drink plenty of water.

Nothing at all wrong with it but as Vinni suggested, get a little something in for eats before bed. Preferably some cottage cheese in there as well. Long lasting proteins.
