I think roid rage is a crock, you don't go around and start freaking out at random things. But I do agree that one can become more irritable and aggresive.
I'm an easy going person and it takes a lot to piss me off. I'm on a Tren only cycle now and I don't get mad easier or for no reason, but i noticed when I do get mad, I flip the fuck out. So I would say it is not 100% mental.
