Saying Hi and Looking For Advice

Hi there, recently joined this forum and the amount of information here is mind blowing, and seems like a really cool community. This is my first post and I just wanted to introduce myself. Im a typical 33 year old guy who, when I was younger did a small bit of messing around lifting weights just to stay in shape, nothing major. I always wanted to give a bit more time and commitment to it, but you know the story, with working 10+ hours a day on building sites, that idea went out the window, didn’t have the time or energy.
About 2 years ago I was let go from work due to the fact that there was a recession here and decided to finish a college course I started years ago. Now I seem to have plenty of spare time on my hands and have recently decided to get into the gym. This time I am commited to it and want to get the most out of it, but am finding it tough going.
Im not one of these guys that comes on here that recently started training and wants to start taking gear with unrealistic expectations. Not saying I wont ever take steroids, don’t have a problem with it, been reading a lot a stuff on this site and fully realize I have a lot of work to do before I even consider that.
Apart from introducing myself, I guess what im really looking for is advice, how to stay motivated, what kind of goals and expections should I have if im wiiling to work, any advice on training, stuff like that. Has anybody been in my situation and what were their experiences. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
