Trt and weight loss am I at the correct body fat

Hi folks thanks for all the insight. I am starting trt treatment Friday and have read the trt basics so thanks for pointing me in the right direction based on my previous post.

I've seen some stuff on you tube saying that taking testosterone with high body fat is not recommended. I used to be 35%bf and have been able to get down to 20% over the last year working out and eating clean. I try to stay around 2000 cal or less per day and lift heavy 3-4 times a week.
So on to my question :

Is 20% body fat going to make it difficult to lose weight on TRT. What % body fat should I be at? One impacts the other but I feel like I hit a wall with losing weight because of low T. But if T helps me build muscle I should be able to lose weight because muscle burns more calories. Right?
I have to talk to the doc because I am starting trt treatment Friday but plan on pinning twice a week to limit the aromatization(This is based on the information in trt basics). I'm also not sure if he is going to have me take hcg....
So will TRT help me burn fat? Or is my % body fat going to affect my TRT progress? ??
Sorry guys I'm just trying to get a handle on this and prepare with questions and solutions for my therapy kick off this Friday.

I'm personally over 40% body fat and am on TRT. I'm not sure where the info is about TRT and body fat but I know of a few members here that are/were way over 20% when they started.

TRT is the only thing that has actually made me want to work out again. Without it I'd still be a miserable slug on the couch! I need to lose a huge amount of weight and absolutely could not do it without TRT.

I just signed up with 3J for nutritional counseling so I have not actually begun my diet but should be starting in just a few days. I personally don't have any data to back it up but I honestly think TRT will help with weight loss.

Cheers flyboy.
Not sure about the weight loss but was hoping it does help. I know that with a higher body fat that you risk more aromatization which is why they say it's best to avoid the peaks and troughs and pin multiple times a week at a lower dose.
I may look into 3J diet plan myself

I did a google search for "trt and weightloss". A whole bunch of positive info came up along with several studies and articles.

You can find a lot of info about 3J over in the diet section. Good luck!

Testosterone is not a fat burner. It does help you put on muscle mass though which in turn burns more calories. If you have a good diet and exercise, you will find that it is easier to add muscle and lose fat while on TRT. Doing any of that while hypogonadal is very difficult.

I suspect the videos you were watching related to cycling and being at supraphysiological levels of testosterone. It is true that cycling with high body fat van be problematic as controlling estradiol and other things becomes much more difficult. But on TRT it will be manageable with an aromatase inhibitor. And not everyone on TRT needs to use an AI. You may not need it

I would recommend urging your doctor to prescribe hCG. Your testicles will atrophy on TRT. Sex definitely feels better with working testicles. And for whatever reason, guys just generally feel better on TRF when they also use hCG.

Definitely second Megatrons advice.

I just switched from Axiron gel to injectable T-cyp. I was already showing signs of elevated E2 when I switched over and was confirmed with BW. Now I'm on a fairly high dose of 200mg T-cyp and 1000iu HCG per week so I definitely require an AI. I'm taking .5mg of Anastrozole twice weekly and I feel really good. Of course your protocol may look completely different but the addition of HCG is highly recommended! My walnuts really appreciate it. It's always nice to have a good pair "slappers" when engaged in vigorous activities with the GF!
