UFC update/rumors 12/8/08

JayC

..in the making
Over the past week or so I've read some possible match up rumors and updates. Some are looking pretty damn good...

Clay Guida Vs Nate Diaz, looks solid for UFC 95 or 94 maybe.

I heard the UFC is possibly looking at Luiz Cane (Cain sp??) as Anderson Silva's next match up. Just rumor though.

Rusmir Palhares Vs Jeremy Horn for UFC 93.

Matin Kampman making 170lb debut coming up and Diego Sanchez's next fight will be at 155!!

Joe Lauzon Vs Hermes Franca, this one is right around the corner I believe.

Thales Leites said he's looking to fight Demian Maia in the near future!

Kurt Pelligrino's next match up will be against Rob Emerson..

and
Looks like Frankie Edgar is out with an injury and won't fight this week :-(

Where to begin? Guida is a good matchup for Diaz because he has a lot of name recognition and has beaten some solid opponents. He will be the perfect stepping stone for Nate. Anderson Silva v. any striker at 205 will be an exciting fight, Cane seems to be very dangerous so far, I'd like to see someone really test him. Palhares will rip Horn to pieces. Horn is another on where I can't fathom why he still gets fights in the UFC. Kampmann will be perfect size at 170 and depending on how he fares against some of the better wrestlers he will be a title contender. Lauzon vs. Franca will be interesting. Franca really needs another couple of wins or he may end up getting cut, Lauzon fights tenaciously but he can be kind of sloppy and might end up getting subbed.

Geez MoM, I think thats the longest post you've written all year..lol J/K
Yep, Clay and Nat is a perfect match up.. but wouldn't count clay out. He's got just as much a chance to win the bout as nate does..IMO
Cane is def underrated and has that ability to take damage and still come on even harder, so even though I'm not excited to see him become Silva's next opp, it might be a good fight.
I'd love to see Kampmann fight Kos. He'll be good for the 170 div.
Lauzon and Franca has the potential to be fight of the night. The last time I saw Lauzon fight (against Bradley I think), he looked crisp, refined and explosive.

Guida is a solid fighter but he tends to bore me. When you get right down to it what he can do is push the pace and force his opponent into the cage/onto the ground. He will never compete for a belt.
