What happens to excess estrogen from SERMs?

It is my understanding that a serm (i.e. nolva or clomid) would result in the inhibition of estrogen at specific receptor sites in the body, therefore reducing the effect of estrogen but not the overall contents of estrogen floating around in the body. What happens to all this excess estrogen when you finally stop using the serm? It seems to me that you would encounter estrogenic side effects up the ass, but this doesnt seem to be the case based on anecdotal reports. In other words, how does the body deal with the estrogen that was displaced from breast tissue and from the brain as a result of using serms?
