white rice-white potatoe

It spikes your insulin levels, but generally white bread and white rice are fairly useless from a nutitional point of view--stick to higher quality carbs and you will at least get some better nutrition. White bread is almost on par with eating sugar--what they used to call empty calories.

Ha Ha---thanks

So how is this going for you? Do you feel better doing this.

A couple other things you might take note---

Yukon Gold Potatoes are also acceptable and on par with Reds.

For the most part stay away from Russett

eh, its really not much different than what ive been doin with WMS starch, which was either instant grits, or oatmeal packets (the kind with the sugar), or sometimes just plain oatmeal. Its all good stuff...better than matlo and dex imo. The honey and raisins and red potatos are a nice change though.

Cream of wheat or instant grits / sugar oatmeal is all good.

You are right when you say better then malto or dex.....Who wouldn't rather eat Sugar Oatmeal over that crap.

I drink 8 oz of OJ and have a can of tuna with fat free mayo as my pwo, then i eat a meal 40 minutes later? Is this good dirk?

I think you could do better---

I probably wouldn't drink the OJ after your workout. OJ is nice in the morning with breakfast but how about eating some potato or rice after. Also 8 oz. of OJ does not contain that much carbohydrates.

How about trying some mini rice cakes with your tuna

yep, it's a high GI food that restores muscle glycogen faster than brown rice or sweet potatoes

This is really a myth - Yes it spikes your insulin levels, but many studies have shown slow digesting carbs restore at an equal or greater rate.

Isn't the theory that if you eat a high GI food such as white bread/rice/potato it will spike the insulin (this we have already stated) and shuttle whatever nutrients you take with it into your cells. That way if you have a protein shake with the high GI food it will shuttle the protein quickly into your muscles. I believe I have read this....feel free to correct this statement.

sorry to hijack this thread but i tend to train in the late evening and as im cutting with a low carb diet (100g/day) im not too sure on whats the best source of carbs are PWO with my shake as that is my last form of intake before bed .

Anyone have any ideas?
