Working for 24 hours straight without sleep

becoming the bull
Sometime in my job have to work for almost the whole day without sleep. It's very little work mainly sitting around, but on these days how should I alter my diet to prevent losing muscle and keep my energy up? Any suggestions would be apprecatied.

1g protein per lb of body weight

Play around with your carbs, if your only sitting around try 0.5g of carbs per lb of body weight, if you feel you haven't got much energy add some more.

To keep energy levels constant only eat complex carbs such as oats, sweet potato.etc
Simple carbs such as baked potato, white rice will cause an insulin spike which can leave you feeling more hungry and tired.

I too have a job that sometimes keeps me up 24 hours. With small bursts of stressful and hard work. I try to pack all my meals ahead of time for the day. When I get off shift if im going to try a catch a few hours of rest, I treat breakfast like my normal late night meal. Some cottage cheese or casein protein and some PB.

Like John, I'm also in the same boat of working 24hr shifts.... it's tough. Best advice I can give from my experience: PACK A COOLER. A cooler is literally your best friend - get a large one, load it up with prepared food, lots of water, and icepacks. I like to use microwavable containers to store my food it, that way I just take it out of the cooler, throw my chicken breast/steak/whatever in the microwave and it's good to go.

Plan ahead brother, takes some serious discipline to get continuous nutrition on a 24hr shift, but if you want to make gains it's worth it and completely doable. The only 'change' potentially to your diet is like John also said about when you get home to get some rest... even if it's in the morning, if you're going to be sleeping for an extended period - treat it like a bed time meal. Keep carbs and sugars low. Try and get slow digesting protein (casein) if possible.
