If you have 1.5 pin and you want to go 1.0 or 5/8 I like to take the cap off the needle, trim the top of the cap off to the desired length. Then when you jab the cap will stop the 1.5 pin at your custom length and your good to go. A veteran showed me this trick and it works nice.

I get the pain the day after or about 10 hours after the jab. The more people I talk to the more that say this is the same thing that happens to them. The odd thing is on the right glut I only get a little sore. That left one is a bitch though. Like you I will just have to stick it out (pun pun)...
