So I'll give a as quick as possible back story. I have ED, fatigue, mental fog and mild depression so I figured I'd get my test levels checked out. First blood test, total test came back at 429 ng/dL. Second blood test, they told me is was about 350 ng/dL (I don't have the results in front of me). So my urologist said it's not necessarily that low, but we can still treat it. He started me on nolvadex today to take 10mg twice a day. I guess his thought is to block estrogen so the amount of testosterone I do have is more available to the receptors (I don't know much about this, just saying what he told me). He said I will continue this for 6 weeks, then I will have a follow up appointment and see how I feel. In the mean time, he wants me to get my TSH levels tested and some other thyroid hormones to see if a problem in my thyroid is causing any of this. Additionally, he said because I have so many symptoms, it could just be the depression causing all of this, so he wants me to seek psychological counseling, so I've made an appointment with a psychologist on campus (it's free) for a couple weeks from now to discuss all this crap I guess.

So the reason that he claims he didn't want to put me on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) right away was because it can make you sterile. So my questions are: 1) What is the incidence of becoming sterile, and does it go away if I hop off testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) when I do want to have kids? 2) Is there something I can take in conjunction (I thought hcg but not sure) with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that won't make me sterile? 3) Is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) worth it at my level? I don't mind injecting, I'm not afraid of needles or anything, taking things doesn't scare me or anything. Also, general feedback on my situation would be appreciated. Maybe someone has been through something similar and has a tip? Thank so much in advance, as you can see I'm completely new here, and have little experience with this. The most I've done is read up on some cycles and I know a bit about the terminology and stuff.

I dont know about making you sterile, but chances are probably greater than not that you will diminish your capability it happened to me. HCG can help, also some guys come off it and get lucky or try clomid after they come off of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). But getting somebody pregnant can be a challenge, not a death sentence but it is a serious side effect to me in mind. At your age and those numbers I think the doc is on the right track.
