I did a quick Google search to make sure, and benzyl alcohol is said to be a "useful solvent", so my educated guess is that it will help hold a solution to prevent crystal formation. However, at 1%, I'm not sure how effective it is as a solution stabilizer.

BA is toxic at "high concentration", so I personally would not use it at high concentration as a solvent.

2-3% is good.
