Advice Please.

OK so I am currently 17 years old, and no, before I get major abuse, I am not really considering AAS usage, just need some concise advice.

Since I was 12 I have been messing around with weights and for the last 3 years or so I have been lifting seriously with a main goal of achieving a huge strength and power for my size, and I mainly concentrate on a powerlifting style.

I have recently won several competitions, and easily with PBs of: -Bench 120kg @ 68kg
-Squat 165kg @ 68kg
-Deadlift 215kg @ 68kg

I have a slightly weird build - my arms are quite long compared to my torso and legs and reach to my knees when I leave them at my sides and I'm told this is why my deadlift is so heavy. My coach has now been telling me that I could be very very very good on a high level, but to do that I have to use AAS and that other people my age already are, and that it has to be now otherwise they will be too far ahead of me. So I decided to research AAS and it has become quite clear to me that the risk of permanent damage to the endocrine system is high at my age, not to mention all the psychological effects. I am not hugely concerned about the aspect of stunted growth as I am already taller than my father (who is 5"6) and mother (5"4), yes my family are midgets, and honestly, from a powerlifting perspective getting taller may be detrimental to my progress.

So I said this to my coach and he assures me that with proper guidance from him and proper post cycle therapy (pct), AIs, etc that I will be fine and will regain my natural test production, however I have begun to suspect he may not have my health at the top of his priority list. I do want to succeed and improve, however at 17 I do not think it's worth completely messing up my hormones over.

So my question is, in your opinion, is it possible to use AAS in a sensible dosage at my age with minimal lasting effect on the endocrine system? I understand advice to the contrary is normally given to people of my age asking this question, but as far as I understand the long term effects are usually caused by use of more suppressive AAS or by lack of post cycle therapy (pct), etc.

And I do understand you may tell me to go away simply because of my lack of posts but this is not a troll or anything of the sort, I'm just finding it hard to make such a decision and am in dire need of advice from people with experience of these things.

Thanks.

Put it this way bud, if you decide you're gonna take aas to compete at the higher levels (which is a decision you ultimately need to make for yourself), then you should do so with full acceptance of the possible consequences..You need to weigh the pros and cons and decide if it's worth it to you.

To answer your question, yes, it is possible....but not likely. There will most likely be a lasting negative impact on your endocrine system that you'll have to be willing to deal with. Don't take this the wrong way, but you're still a kid. You're body is producing testosterone at the highest levels of your life right now, and as soon as you start on aas that will be shut down. Now whether or not it will start back up is a complete gamble. I've seen people not recover from one cycle, and I've seen people stay on 8 months out of the year and still recover. There's simply no way to tell how your body will react. I'm not gonna tell you not to do it, cause if that's your dream then by all means follow it! You just have to be willing to deal with the consequences that come with it.

I'm sure you'll be banned for being under 18 first off. And u should be. Your too young to even have AAS anywhere in your lil mind... Also I wish u could give me the name, phone number, and address of your coach so I could beat his ass. He's an idiot and he's goin to get you hurt and permanently damaged. His concern is not your health but his record as a coach

I appreciate the replies. Yes I suspected that and from reading here and other forums it seems to me that using AAS at my age would not be a good idea. I just wanted to make sure people my age weren't being told to stay away from fear of their irresponsible use leading to the damage, not just their irresponsibility. I have no illusions and I am fully aware that I have not got the psychological development needed, not to mention the physical aspect so I will of course not be using AAS.

And I do understand that I will be banned, I just wanted the second opinion of people other than my coach who, for obvious reasons, I don't exactly place a huge trust in right now and he is the only person I know that uses/has used AAS.

But thanks again for the replies, and fear not, I have no intention of using - whatever small chance there was of me contemplating usage is now gone.

Thanks.

If your coach is encouraging AAS use to a minor, this guy needs to stay away from minors period and should let you know he does not want what is best for you, but what is best for he's team even if that means putting a minors health at serious and potentionally permanent health risk. He is a position of power, where kids are going to want to do anything to make a team.

I suggest you search on here there are many threads on guys under 25 trying to do cycles and everyone recommend even the older guys 20-23 to wait till at least 25. You will most likely get banned. Listen to the advice given on here, and stay away from AAS.

Awesome man I'm glad to hear this. U just wait till your in your later twenties then you'll be glad u did. And fuck your coach he's a DB.

Kinda sad high school coaches will tell kids. I was lifting decent weights in highschool and my gym teacher told me I should start taking steroids. I took one look at him and told him he's an idiot. Some people really don't care what happens to people. Specially in sports at that age.

I can't believe your coach advised u to use gear. U should kick him in whatever balls he got left, and walk away. I understand your in a predicament, but he is so wrong for being in such a position and then to advise minors of all people to use gear... I'm sorry but that guy has no class. Nevermind the fact of your age, u would do really well with a proper diet and positive surroundings. It's good to hear that atleast u have a good head on your shoulders.. I'm just sorry that assholes like that even exist. That is messed up...

Diet wise I'm pretty sorted, and I am still making good progress just apparently not good enough... But thanks everyone I did not really intend using before and definitely do not now.

Hope your coach loses his job, suggesting AAS to anyone in high school is dangerous, not to mention morally/ethically screwed.

We know you didn't really plan on it that's why no one is bashing you. Good to see some younger guys still have a good head on there shoulders. You have great strength now and your young just imagine what you can achieve in 5 years and stay healthy.
