Bad Form Deads -> Crunchy Knees

I decided to get serious about deads the other night and did a 5x5 routine. Really taxed my body, sore the next day, it was great.

But 2 days after doing the deads my knees are crunchy when I move them. They haven't done that since I did squats in high school, years ago. I know that my form doing squats in high school must have been bad and, despite watching lots of videos of pullinbig and others doing deads (over and over), I'm sure that my form for deads today is bad as well. So I guess I should have been anticipating the knee problems.

Incidentally, how common are knee problems from bad-form deads?

Anyway, I'm guessing the best way for me to evaluate my own form is to get the video camera out and go from there. I guess I'll need to drop the weight down. Not having any experience with deads, I selected 205lbs as a starting point for the 5x5s, but perhaps even that is too much when developing proper form.

It's frustrating to think about all of the years that I wasted not lifting and now I'm being impatient as hell.

Does this sound like a plan? I guess I'll hold off until my knees get a bit better. Unfortunately, that may take as long as several weeks, based on prior experience from high school.

you pulling sumo or conventional?

after you film it send me a clip. ill see if i can see anything that may help.

5x5 is not a good dead program. IMHO =0)
