Barbells and dumbells, what are the best routines you can do with them?

I have adjustable weight barbells and dumbells at home, and I'd like to know how I can make the best of them.
I'm working on my upper body, but the routines I do get repetitive, since I only know a couple of exercises.
What are the best ways to use dumbells and barbells?
 
You can do any and every free weight exercise there is.

Bicep curls, wrist curls, skull krushers, squats, deads, lunges, shoulder press, shrugs, rows, etc etc.
Providing you have a bench: bench press, close grip.

no leg work?
 
i agree.... no leg work?????? i think you need to rethink that.. JMO.
 
Do you have a partner or spotter? Getting really heavy in the squats at home can get dangerous if you don't have someone there. Do you have a bench? You can do plenty of solid movements with barbells and dumbbells - bentover row, deadlifts, bench (if you have a bench), military press, stuff like that. If you have a partner, you should do squats too. If not, do the squats anyway, just don't go so heavy I guess...
 
hey, thanks guys. I do running so thats legwork to me. Yeah, I have a bench. Thanks for the excercises, I'll try them out. Any other tips or routines?

i had a friend who said that all the time..i run why do i need to lift with themm...i dunno so they grow??? but hey what do i know?
dl and BD sqauts would be some good hits for the wheels...
 
A buddy of mine tried telling me that running makes your legs stronger and he didnt need to do other leg work, well, lo and behold his is doing squats now.

Running will keep you in shape and keep your legs trim, but its not going to make them stronger and when your upperbody looks good and your legs look like crap !! Hit up some squats, you can even do dumbell squats .
