There are a lot of good certs most common accredited ones NCSM,ACSM,ISSA,AAAI and many others. As far as working as a personal trainer your pay will be the same with any of those single certs mentioned, your level and pay will jump with a degree in the fitness field with something like exercise and science or get multiple certs.
If you want to be a successful personal
trainer, certs are only part of it. Here are
a few other things to consider from my
experience.
-The most important thing is to have stellar sales and interpersonal skills.
-Your physique. If a trainer looks less than
desirable people are less likely to believe or even listen to what you are saying.
(this is bad for referrals)
-Get liability insurance, and get a
liability waiver written for yourself.
It is possible to make a lot of money.. but it is a lot work to build a solid clientele. Good luck man.
jmb1 is right on its one thing to have the knowledge and cert for training its another thing having the sale skills and personality so ppl will buy training and want to train with you...i made 3 direct sales and had 1 resign the month of june which is good and imo what separates me and some other trainers that i work with is personality-besides a thick Boston accent working in northern Jersey, ppl are also looking for a friend you will find if you do become a personal trainer you play bar tender alot ppl will confide in you and tell you alot of things also i have a few really good looking females that are clients if you have charm and can use it to you advantage they will give you the credit card lol.
Single best piece of advice i got starting-unwavering confidence, exude confidence and ppl will want to train with you good luck
