Best Nootropic, probably something illegal?

Looking to dive into the world of Nootropics (cognitive boost chemicals). I've used herbal shit before (Bacopa, Ginkgo Biloba), anyone know some good stuff that's illegal? Being illegal is always a good indicator of effectiveness, rather than these high-profit-margin vitamins. I've seen 1 or 2 chemicals floating around Peptide stores but seems like obscure stuff.

I tried getting a prescription to Adderall once, but the doc wouldn't give it to me lol. Damn doctors.

Sorry, I've tried just about all of them and found little to no difference. Adderall isn't a nootropic btw, it's just a powerful stimulant (I take it to calm down as a matter of fact).

You can try stuff like aniracetam, but it can be an expensive test to see if you gain anything.

Hahaha, this is funny and true (usually)! :D

Nootropics, as far as I know, are not illegal.

If you're looking for a list of effective nootropics, check out this article here: Nootropics, i.e. ?Safe? Smart Drugs | Thrivenotes

Here is an excerpt if you don't want to read the long article:

1. PIRACETAM + CDP-CHOLINE — Piracetam is a safe and effective cognitive enhancer that is thought to restore membrane fluidity of compromised neuronal cells (helping with neuro- transmission, protection, and plasticity). It was first used in the 1960***8242;s to combat motion sickness. Its companion (I’ve listed them together intentionally) is CDP-Choline, which is a choline supplement, so it increases the amount of choline available to the brain. (Choline, or Acetylcholine, more properly, is one of the primary neurotransmitters in your brain; without sufficient choline, your brain can’t function well.) [Read more about both of these substances, including how they work together, at SmarterNootropics.com]

2. ANIRACETAM + CDP-CHOLINE — Similar to Piracetam, being in the “racetam” family, but this is a fat-soluble version, so it should stay in your system for longer than Piracetam. Aniracetam is purported to have an anxiolytic (read: anxiety-reducing) effect for many users. [See more here: smarternootropics.com/table-of-contents/aniracetam/.]

3. PYRITINOL — Pyritinol is a modified form of vitamin-B6. It is two B6 molecules combined together so that — when broken down by your body — they can easily cross the blood/brain barrier to help with neurotransmitter synthesis. It has been shown to improve reaction time in individuals in time-based tests and is used to help treat dementia in some places in Europe. It has been in use as a nootropic since the 1990***8242;s. (Interesting to note that it is also known as an effective “hangover cure”.)

4. MAGNESIUM L-THREONATE — While magnesium is apparently one of the most deficient minerals in the American diet, eating foods high in the mineral and taking supplements is unlikely to positively impact your brain for the reason that these forms of magnesium cannot easily pass through the blood/brain barrier. With this challenge and the knowledge that in-brain magnesium is vital to synapse density, recognition memory, and spatial working memory, MIT sought to find a form that can easily get where it needs to go, hence: Magnesium L-Threonate, or MgT. In lab animals given it it led to 18% improvements in short-term memory and 100% improvements in long-term memory. It is currently being tested in human trials.

Here is another list of Nootropics:

1. Adrafinil / Armodafinil / Modafinil /
2. Theanine* & caffein (2/1 ratio)
3. Pramiracetam
4. Phenylpiracetam

Modafinil – originally developed to treat Shift-work sleep disorder, insomnia followed by daytime sleepiness.

Effects: 1. Brain function –

Improves cognitive (brain) function; used by University students and corporate executives as performance enhancers. (Might be somewhat similar to that performance enhancer in the film Limitless.)

2. Athletic performance –

Modafinil has received some publicity in the past when several athletes (such as sprinter Kelli White in 2004, cyclist David Clinger and basketball player Diana Taurasi in 2010) were discovered allegedly using it as a performance-enhancing doping agent. (Taurasi and another player, Monique Coker, tested at the same lab, were later cleared.[69]) It is not clear how widespread this practice is. The BALCO scandal brought to light an as-yet unsubstantiated (but widely published) account of Major League Baseball's all-time leading home-run hitter Barry Bonds' supplemental chemical regimen that included Modafinil in addition to anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.[70] Modafinil has been shown to prolong exercise time to exhaustion while performing at 85% of VO2max and also reduces the perception of effort required to maintain this threshold.[71]

*Theanine (or L-theanine) is an amino acid from tea extract. It is effective for focusing thoughts and improve mood. I have personally used it, and it is very effective, especially in improving mood and keep myself feeling positive, even when there are a lot of negative things going on in my life.

You can always get them from oversea pharmaceutical companies, such as India, China, etc.
Google search for "India" or "China" and "(insert the name of the nootropics)".

Cheers.

By the way, here are some additional info on CDP-CHOLINE (aka Citicoline, cytidine diphosphate-choline):

Citicoline - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Medical uses

Citicoline is available as a supplement online and in stores. It is sold in over 70 countries under a variety of brand names: Ceraxon, Cognizin, NeurAxon, Somazina, Synapsine, etc. When taken as a supplement citicoline is hydrolyzed into choline and cytidine in the intestine.[8] Once these cross the blood–brain barrier it is reformed into citicoline by the rate-limiting enzyme in phosphatidylcholine synthesis, CTP-phosphocholine cytidylyltransferase.[9][10]
Memory disorders

In the hippocampi of rats with induced Alzheimer's Disease, citicoline counteracts neuronal degeneration and reduces the number of apoptotic cells present. Citicoline supplementation also improves memory retention.[9]
Ischemic stroke

Citicoline is approved for treatment in cases of head trauma, stroke, and neurodegenerative disease in Japan and Europe. Citicoline improves the clinical outcome following an ischemic stroke, as evidenced by the reduction in size of lesions caused by ischemic strokes after supplementation.[11] It has been claimed that citicoline reduces rates of death and disability following an ischemic stroke.[12] However, the largest trial to date, a randomised, placebo-controlled, sequential trial in patients with moderate-to-severe acute ischaemic stroke in Europe, enrolling 2298 patients, found no benefit of administering citicoline on survival or recovery from stroke.[13]

It should be noted that Citicoline is the only substance that ever showed any significant neuroprotective effect at least in patients with less severe stroke events.[14]
Vision

Citicoline improves visual function in patients with glaucoma[15][16] and amblyopia[citation needed]
Satiety

Cocaine dependence is associated with depleted dopamine levels in the central nervous system. In cocaine-dependent individuals citicoline increases brain dopamine levels and reduces cravings.[17] In the general population citicoline increases brain responses to food stimuli, specifically in the amygdala, insula, and lateral *****ofrontal cortex, which correlate with decreased appetite.[18]

I've used a fair amount of piracetam which isn't illegal. It does have an effect but nothing mind blowing.

To give you the best answer would be..... sleep. Beyond that there are a ton of other items you can use to help but sleep is the most important. That being said. I have found that cycling on and off of stimulants can be a great boot to productivity.

What are you looking to gain from Nootropics? Memory gains? Concentration? The brain is so complicated we need to know more about the results you are looking for. Also have you had blood work done by a nutritionists? Sometimes solving vitamin deficiencies can have pretty drastic results on your cognitive capabilities.
