I think I remember reading this somewhere

to maintain your bodyweight
yourweight x 12 = how many cals you need a day

to gain weight
your bodyweight x 15 = how many cals you need to gain

to lose weight
your bodyweight x 10 = how many cals you need to lose weight

Is this pretty accurate?
 
Use the search. There is a post somewhere on this site that has a pretty good formula. It takes into account activity level and a bunch more. Maybe someone can remember who wrote it.
