can you get muscular on veggie diet?

I was thinking the other day the biggest most muscular peope on earth eat meat and came to think can you get big on a veggie diet? I read in arnolds book he does not believe in a veggie diet to get muscular.

Yeah, when he was 15...And he didn't start strength training until he was 18...I doubt the meat was 'stored' in his system or anything...You wanted to know if you could get muscular on a veggie diet...he did it on a VEGAN diet...it's possible...you probably won't be Ronnie Coleman or anything...
 
brat arent there differnt levela of vegatairianism(sp)...some are strictly vegie and nut eaters. others eat eggs and such and some eat almost everything but red meat?

Vegan - no animal products; not only do they not EAT animal products, they don't use anything that might have some animal by-product, such as leather or different types of lotions, etc.
Ovo-vegetarian - eats eggs
Lacto-vegetarian - eats dairy
Pesco-vegetarian - eats fish
Pollo-vegetarian - eats chicken
Of course, there are combinations of the above, too...for example, I'm an ovo/lacto-vegetarian, meaning I eat both eggs and dairy products. Most of the time, nuts are not a problem with vegetarians because they aren't animal products (SHUT IT TAF! ;) )

Mike Mahler, my vegetarian hero, is a vegan, meaning NO animal products - no dairy, no eggs, no fish, no chicken...

i dont see any issues with gaining mass with any of these four or a combo of those...a vegan diet would def require a lot of dedication.
 
It's really not that hard...lots of cottage cheese and eggs, and one or two protein shakes a day (one whey, one casein)...good to go!
 
There is a bodybuilder on another site I go to who is vegatarian. I don't know which type, but he's decent sized. I think his name is Steven Holt, or something like that. He has a site about what he eats and so on.
 
Yeah, Bill Pearl... he's in his 70s now and still looking great, so the whole vegetarian thing must be working well for him.
