carbs before bed

This doesn't really make any sense but it seems whenever I have carbs at night before bed, when I wake up and look in the mirror, I actually look more cut and a little bigger. When I don't eat carbs before bed, when I wake up, I don't seem to look as cut or big. I'm not talking a drastic change as it's only overnight, but big enough for me to notice. If I do have carbs, it's usually a bowl of (healthy) cereal or a muffin or carbs mixed w/ protein, hamburger helper for example.

I always eat protein before bed, usually the same thing. 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 2 or 3 hard boiled egg whites and a protein shake. Sometimes I'll throw in a chicken breast or some meat that I ate for dinner that night.

Is this possible or is it all in my head?

If I eat carbs before bed I wake up feeling sluggish, feel fatter, and actually convince myself that I've put fat on...

I only use carbs at night because my training session is very late, and I do only one solid meal before bed!

I agree with walls, If I eat alot before I goto bed I wake up bloated and my stomach is fizzing/growling grossly bad.

Just feel like shit, and I hate to start a day like that.

i have a shake with water or whole milk and some natty pb...works well while bulking...

when trying to lean out whey w\lots and lots of water. For me no carbs past 830ish

I still eat carbs before I go to sleep - a few slices of whole wheat breads & some cold cuts w/ 3scoops of N Large II and I'm set. It works well for me, but I don't wake up feeling more lean.

I am the same way Vennom! When I do the carb cut-off at 6ish, I wake up bloated. However, when I eat like whole wheat bread with a protein before bed, I seem to wake up with my abs looking better. :insane2:

I know it sounds backwards but I know alot of guys who do the same thing. Including a former pro bodybuilder friend of mine. It does'nt work for me but thats not to say it does'nt work.

Kinda the opposite of what's being discussed, but...

I don't eat any carbs before bed... usually I will boil up 15 eggs, eat all the whites, about 3 yokes, and drink some olive oil. When I do this, I wake up STARVING the next morning. Anyone else noticed this?

(It's not due to lack of food, I am FULL when I've polished off that lot)

15 eggs at a time?? Do you have to go to the store and buy eggs every time you want to eat them or do you have a separate fridge just for eggs?? :afro:

So my question to vennom96 is.....Do you wake up in the middle of the night starving IF you do not eat carbs before bed? I am having some major issues I am waking up every 2hrs after I fall asleep starving. I try to eat chix or turkey and then wake up again 2hrs later. I then try nuts or an apple. I am trying to figure this out any suggestions from Any of you would be good.. I am in a leaning cycle and I always thought that carbs before bed is a very bad thing...What are the thoughts?

I usually wake up in the middle of the night starving regardless of what I eat before bed. Some nights are worse than others, but I haven't really paid attention to if those nights if I had carbs or not. I'll pay more attention to that.

Last night was bad, I HAD to get up and eat! I had a bowl of cereal, a yogurt, and a protein shake. Then about 2 hours later again I woke up starving but this time I slept though it so I could actualy get some sleep.

I never eat after 8pm, carbs before bed leave me feeling bloated and cause nightmares.
Acctually eating before sleeping doesnt cause nightmares not getting enough sleep causes nightmares. your body has dreams during REM sleep and if u miss lets say 2 nights of regular sleep than the next time ur body sleeps it trys to make up for the dreams u missed and that causes nightmares. And an incubus attack is completly different

I have done all sorts of sleep deprivation experiments on myself and it's never given me nightmares.

So is there an answer to this problem of awakening every two hours to eat? Or should I just make a few meals for my middle of the night randevous with the kitchen? :)
