I like to stick with what works for the most part. I always used to try and switch things up all the time, but i found thru the years that certain execises just dont do it for me. Once i start to plateau in strength i switch up my routine and go from there. The basics make up most of my routine so they rarely ever change.

there are certain things that dont come out of my routine although they may change slightly..

assistance or secondary type work is fine to change very often unless you find that its something you cant do without

if i was you i'd pick a good routine, preferably one from one of these guys like a 5x5 or something and stick w/ it. Small changes such as the order of what you do, etc are good but i think my worst mistake is changing my routine too often. I always pick something and don't give it enuff time to see if it works before i change to something else. I really believe the science in some of these lower volume periodized routines and think they could be very beneficial in the long run.

I usually stick w/the same program(maybe make slight changes) for several months(until i plateau)...Often times a change in diet will help just as much as a change in program. I've been using a program called the power matrix for bench, deads and squats for about 5 months now and am still making gains. Have gained almost every week on my dl for 5 months. Had hit a plateau where I hadn't gained for about 3 weeks on dl, increased my calorie intake some and i'm gaining again. :) I'd say stick to a program(like the 1 i gave u or 5x5 whatever works) try it for a couple months. Y change if its working for u?? change when it stops working.
