Diagnosed with Low T at 26...Need some general info and advice please!

Hello everyone! I am new here and still learning a lot. I have done a lot of research myself but it would be nice to get some questions answered directly as you can find different answers all over the internet.

A little about myself....cliff style

------I am 26
------Been lifting for a little over 4 years consistently but started when I was 18. I made okay gains except for my legs diddn't want to grow and I was in gym and lot more than others and had to be a lot more strict on my diet.
------Went to doctor (not for low T) a month ago and with some of my symptoms (extreme anxiety, apathy, depressions, no sex drive ever, stiffness, short term memory loss, etc). I run business since I was 21 I thought that a lot of the stress and anxiety was from that and this life was just normal.
-- ----Fist blood test came back as 245 total test....second test came back at 248 total test. I think free was 58.
-- ----He immediately wrote me a prescription for Cyp. 100mg/Ml.

Questions.

1.I am on my 3rd week of shots....100mg once a week. I have not noticed much if any difference. Is this normal to start on such low dosage? I am having my 4th shot and blood test again next week.

2.I don't have the best insurance so its a little expensive for me. I think like 70 bucks for the 100mg/ml x10. I am seeing I can get it for a lot cheaper online. But the scary part is where...and should I ask my doctor if that is okay? (may be dumb question but he is close family doctor) Open to Pms for this...thank you.

3. I did not get on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for gym purposes...in fact I was totally against steroids mostly because of my lack of knowledge about them until now. I am not going to lie...I was pretty angry finding out I have been lifting for 4 years with all that hard work and had the T levels of a 60 year old man.....the Question...Can I still cycle T like everyone else. If I am prescribed 250 a week....can I go up to 500mg a week for 10 weeks and then come back down to 250.....obviously with blood test. I would like to get some of the time and effort back I lost being that I had Low T.

Thank you guys for any and all advice. A lot of this is new to me and I am still learning.

Here is what I was able to do last year with Low T.....Just to show you guys I did put the work and diet in.

Just copy and paste this I guess....it won't let me do the link. Just to bodybuilding.com

I have had 109 views and no answers. Did I ask the wrong questions or say something wrong?

Just looking for short answers and advice. Thank you.

The part of your question dealing with cycles and unprescribed doses isn't appropriate for this section, that might be one reason for no responses.

100mg/week is a pretty common starting dose.
It is normal not to notice much after 3 weeks, give it a few more.
The cost of $70 for a 10ml vial is not bad at all, I would buy all day long at that price. 100mg/ml is kind of unusual though...

Biggest issue is that at only 26 your doctor should have done more to research why your T is low rather than just dumping you on TRT... you have a lot of life ahead of you and andropause is not likely the cause. What is?

I'm sure you'll get some more responses from the more knowledgeable members on this board.

EDIT: forgot this part: NO I WOULD NOT ASK MY DOCTOR IF IT'S OK TO BUY ILLEGAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES FROM AN UNDERGROUND LAB!

In most cases it takes about 6 weeks before you really notice the effects of being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), you must also watch your E2 levels because if you crash your e2 or if they get too high you will have the same side affects as having low T.

He did extensive blood work and even a CT Scan.....he diagnosed me with Hypogonadism. He said that my blood work for my thyroids and my CT Scan was normal. I have been having all of these symptoms since I was about 18.

So I guess I will just keep doing 100mg a week. I see him next week.

Which forum should I post in about taking a different dose than prescribed? Is it okay to just copy and paste this there.

Not trying to break any forum rules. Thank you so far the help.

Also I was wondering if anyone else with Low T had stiffness problems and constant feeling of inflammation. In the mornings it seems like I can't even bend over to touch my knees much less my feet.

Doctor tested me for food allergies but that came back negative. So I am trying gluten free anyway. Just wondering if you flexibility and tightness went away if you had any.

JB,

I would like to see all your lab results. Can you post them with the normal ranges?

Were you diagnosed with primary or secondary hypogonadism?

Usually starts to just kick in around 3 weeks. Can often take up to 8 weeks.

Did the pain begin once you were on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or before? Low estradiol can cause joint pain. That possibly could be happening with you. Again, need to see your labs before you began TRT.

Don't start thinking about running a cycle. Get your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) protocol dialed in first. You are going to probably be submitting many lab results to your doctor until you are dialed in. The quickest way to lose your prescription is to pop up with above normal TT levels.

I pay about $70 at the pharmacy for a 10ml vial of test cyp that is 200mg per ml. So that is twice as much Test as you are getting for the same price. Ask your doc to change your prescription to 200mg per ml. You should see cost savings.

I will get another print out on Wedneday. I will try to get pics up of my lab results from the first time. I also tested negative for Khlinesfelters.

Only numbers I am sure of was 245 first total....and 248 second total a week later. I go on Wednesday to see how 3 weeks of 100mg has worked.

Any lab test you are looking for specifically? Any lab test I should ask him to check next time?

Thank you for all your help. I am going to wait it out and play by his rules.

I get test blend 500mg for close to same price per vial. What name brand is your test ?

Primary

Total is 245 and 247 the second time.

I will have to get the rest or ask for them on my next BW.

The constant inflammation and tightness mainly in my lower body (glutes hamstrings and lower back) has been around for years. I was just really hoping that maybe raising my test levels would help this.

If you truly have primary hypogonadism, the only answer for you is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for the rest of you life. No "restarts" for you unfortunately. Dig up what your LH and FSH labs came in at just to make sure.

Did they check you for things like variceles?

I don't have a good answer for the inflammation and tightness. Do you take cholesterol medications by any chance? That can cause problems like that. If you are, you could try going off them for a couple of months to see if it helps.

No other medications other than testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for me.

I do not smoke or do any drugs. I drink maybe once a month or every other month. Eat very "clean" and healthy.

Were you able to see my body building link? A lot of ppl are saying that I would not have been able to get those results with Low T?

I will try to get as much info for you as I can on Monday or Wednesday when I go back.

What is variceles? I am going to read about it now.

Any recent trauma to your testicles? Mumps perhaps? Read the info in the following link to see what the possible causes of Primary Hypogonadism are.

Did you get your testicles examined by an urologist? If not, you probably should.

No just my primary doctor...he examined them himself. Only thing he found was a small cyst on my sperm tube. He said it was fine and not to worry about it.

No trauma that I know of...hit a few time with sports back in high school. Thank you for all the help by the way.

Also the Doc said that my test numbers and my normal thyroid numbers combined with late puberty probably just means I have always had this problem.

If it was me, I would get checdked by a urologist to make sure all the plumbing is OK.

And I still want to see your full labs to confirm that you really are Primary.

You're welcome for the help. We all know what it is like to be in your spot. Hopefully we can help you get it figured out.
