Diagnosed with Low T at 26...Need some general info and advice please!

Oh I see....yeah my last panel cost me 900. I don't want to be cheap as it is my health but I would rather just get the necessary things for now. My appointment is at 2 so please post what I should DEFINITELY get tested. Thank you.

I have already hit my deductible for insurance so I only pay around 20 dollars a test now. Got blood work today...

He is going to test

Estradiol
Total Test
Vitamin D

My CBC was normal by the way.

If I were you, I would also get my LH, FSH and prolactin tested again because I doubt you really are primary hypogonadotropic. I think you are Secondary given you previous labs. But you should confirm the result to be sure.

I may do this soon. After talking wtih Todd over at IMT he made me feel more comfortable that I am indeed Primary. Both him and the doctor combined late puberty with low testosterone and slightly above normal FSH and LH levels. I may still go see an Endo after I speak with my insurance and see if they will cover it without a referral.

IMT said I maybe have a very small percent chance that Clomad could restart my system...but being that I have had these symptoms for over 6 years it most likely will not work.

May I ask why you are so sure that I am NOT primary?

I am not questioning Todd -- he knows what he's talking about.

You said above that you have slightly above normal FSH and LH. But that doesn't agree with the results you showed us below. What you gave us put your FSH and LH on the lower side of the normal range -- look at the previous posts. Follow the link to the AACE guidelines I gave you as well, it indicates you are likely secondary.

I feel like some of the info you are providing is contradictory. I fear you may not be conveying your results and medical history completely and accurately. This makes it hard to help you.

So to your question of why I am so convinced -- I am not convinced of anything right now. That's why I think you should get labs done and copy them down. I think it would help if you read the materials and other postings on the forum too. The more you know, the better you can communicate with us. I apologize that this probably comes across dickish.

Again, I imagine you were able to talk to Todd and have a decent conversation with him. You should trust his experience and judgement.

Okay I got some of the numbers you guys wanted.

This test was done on 8/14

FER -Ferritin - 132.1 ng/ml Expected - 30.0 to 400.0

FSH - 5.3 miu/ml Expected 1.6 -11.0

LH - 3.5 miu/ml Expected 0.8 to 6.1

Now I am not sure what any of that means other than it looks to appear that I am right in the middle of normal. Megatron you were saying with those numbers the Doc should be able to tell if I am primary or secondary. Again he diagnosed me with primary and put my right on TRT.......Look okay so far?

This is the exact post that I posted. From my math both my LH and FSH are right or above normal. So I am confused on what you are saying that I am on the low side of normal?? Also the blood was taken at 3pm when from what I read the levels are highest in the morning.

What am I not conveying properly or being contradicting about? I think I have given detailed answers and answered everything you asked other than a few blood test which I don't have.

What does normal LH and FSH along with low total testosterone generally indicate? Primary or Secondary Hypogonadism? What does your research tell you?

Again -- I'm not doubting Todd's diagnosis.

I see what you are saying. I explained the "yelling" scenerio to the Doctor. He said 2 things....1. My levels would probably be higher in the morning. 2. Since I have had these symptoms for so long they are probably done trying to force it.

Todd said that I should go forth with treating it as primary since both are treated the same way in the long run. He said that if I wanted peace of mind I could do a urine test for the LH and FSH again as that is the proper way to test them. I will look into this.

Lets say you are right...as I see it is possible just like you. What is the next step after figure out that you are secondary? MRI of the brain? More blood test?

Figure out why you are secondary if possible and give consideration to trying a restart. Or just begin TRT.

MRI would be advised to rule out a possible tumor.

So you are just saying that if I am secondary I should at least try first to figure out what is causing it before getting on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

From what Todd said is that most likely I will end up on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) anyway...but for peace of mind I could rule out all other possibilities.

I did my thyroid test and CT scan of the abdominal and groin are. All normal. I guess the last thing I could try is an MRI of the brain.

I think what Megatron is trying to say is that if you are indeed secondary and not primary, there exists a chance (however slim it may be) that a restart would work for you and you could avoid testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for the time being. You may end up on it later in life or you may need it now, but if you have second thoughts about getting on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), finding out whether you're primary or secondary is not a bad decision.

No I get it now and appreciate his help. I just didn't want him thinking that I was lieing or posting false information.

Thank you guys. I will post updated lab results when I get them later today or tomorrow.
