Diet tips...

Alright guys, any recommedations would help...
Im about 5'4" and weigh right around 170. Ive been attempting different diet plans for a while but to no benefit. Today my diet was as follows (usually try to eat around the same every day):
1) Breakfast-Wheat mini bagel with two eggs, roughly 4oz. chicken and
some low acid orange juice.
2) Lunch- 1/3 of a rotissere (sp?) chicken, water, 1/4 cup of mango sorbet
3) Dinner- bowl of beef/mushroom soup, more orange juice, 1/2 cup of
strawberry sorbet
4) Before bed- protein shake, 4oz applesauce
As far as stats go:
I try to work out at least 4 times a week, some basic stats:
Bench- 230
Curl- ~80lbs-preacher
Deadlift~210
I have a decent build, but i want to shed about 20 lbs or so... any suggestions?
 
I can't imagine trying to lose 20lbs during the holidays. I could not pass on all of that food. Good luck to you but I would wait until after New Years unless you have really strong willpower.
 
yikes. i'm sure some other guys will chime in, but to start with, you're not eating enough meals, you're eating way too much sugar, and you're mixing carbs with fats. if you're trying to lose fat, say bye-bye to the applesauce and orange juice. Mushroom soup is full of cream (fat) if i'm not mistaken.

I'm currently in the process of trying to drop 50lbs. I've had to make some corrections, and I'm sure my diet still is not perfect, but it will give you a better idea:

7:00am- 75g protein shake, 1 cup old-fashioned oats

10:00am- 10 oz chicken breast, 5oz. yam w/ 1 tbls sugar free jam and cinammon.

1:00pm- 10 oz beef (rinsed to elimitate fat), 1/3 cup rice

4:00pm- 1 carton eggbeaters, 1 scoop protein, 2/3 cup oats

7:00pm- 10 oz chicken, 1 tbls olive oil, veggies

10:00pm- 75g protein shake, 2 tbls natural peanut butter.

alright guys... i havent replied in a while, i went back home for thanksgiving... and yea, i slacked off... but gonna start back up tomorrow, gonna be hard cuz there is a Bday party for a chick i gotta go too but im gonna post my day (foodwise) tomorrow night

Your diet is good but I think maybe the protien is a little too high for cutting. Try to remeber that a calorie is a calorie even if its just protien your body will convert it to fat. But hey if you're getting ripped on this do'nt listen to a word I say.

funny you should mention... i've been thinking of dropping it down a little. for the record though, i'm 282 lbs at the moment (started at 305), so my protein requirements are higher than average. still, might be time to drop total calories again...

When I'm trying to get really ripped I usually cut my protien calories by about 25%, however, not all at once.
282lbs thats huge! What's your BF% BTW.
 
i would guess my bf to be about 18% right now, which puts my lean mass about 232 lbs. i'm hoping to get down to 10%, which means i need to hit 255 without any loss of lean mass.

havent been able to write, its Finals week... almost done, hate this shit...
N e way, i actually started eating again... for about a week and a half there i didnt eat even 2 full meals a day... ended up losing 40 lbs off of my bench, now that im actually giving my body something to use again, im back to where i was...
Lost 6 lbs so far, gonna post later tonight what i eat today for some more critique... thanks guys
 
Did you count your calorie intake?
At your weight, you should be eating about 1700 kcal to loose fat. Also you should do some type of cardio.
And of course, your diet should be clean. Maybe with a carb cut off.
