dr prescribed caber to my trt protocol

Wondering if anybody has this in their protocol and if so do you have any sides? I have been hesitant to start it.

I've never been prescribed it. I assume you tested and had higher than normal prolactin levels? I actually like caber. Good sex drive while on it. Overall just feel good on it. I run it when I'm on any 19-nor steroid.

I thought I was going to die on Caber. I'm going to try Prami next time and start with a super low dose. I hate the fact they have such a long half-life.

I've been prescribed caber and taking it for about 6 weeks. The first dose made me feel horrible. I had bad nausea, dizziness, hot flashes and a headache. But each dose after those sides got better and better to the point that now I feel basically nothing. From what I understand, caber works incredibly quickly so it drops your prolactin like a rock. The first dose or two you really feel those hormone changes. Then once your level has adjusted it's no big deal to maintain.

I will say that caber made a HUGE difference for my libido. It went through the roof and I felt like a 16 year old in just 4-5 days. My wife wanted me to leave her alone!

The hot flashes was the main thing I was worried about when I read about it, I just took my first bi-weekly dose today 0.5mg so hopefully I only get the good sides haha.

Honestly the hot flashes aren't that big of a deal. It's uncomfortable but they usually pass within a few minutes. I wouldn't hesitate to take it and the change in libido alone more than made up for any other sides!

Any ergot derivate can cause this kind of sides. Bromo is the worst , but with caber is rare but can happen .
Caution with prami , be sure to start very low , 0,125mg /day , and up the dosage slowly .

1 mg of Cabergoline is a high dose. I am assuming you have had scans done of your pituitary to rule out a tumor? Maybe high estrogen is the causation or did he describe the readings as idiopathic?

Cabergoline is a dopamine agonist and will have an effect on neurotransmitters as well,

I have had a an mri done recently and no pituitary tumor, I would imagine that would be a very hard thing to miss! My levels were tested 3 days after a 200mg injection when the high prolactin came up, and I just went in for bloods to quest on friday so I will get new results at the end of the week most likely! I did just did take my first .5mg today though so hope everything is better on the new labs

What were your estrogen, renal, liver and thyroid values? Typically high prolactin is a red flag for one of these labs being off. They are typically treated rather than cabergoline being prescribed, not saying your Doc is wrong or anything. I just find it strange! Especially after one lab being off to prescribe it, not sleeping enough can throw the value off as well as a handful of drugs regulating dopamine can effect the results. Not saying your doc is wrong or anything in prescribing it, I just find it strange!

ill post em tomorrow, thanks for the help I appreciate it! This was a dr I tried out but did end up sticking with, the high prolactin labs were from lab corp which I did not like since they did not list the exact test level it just said over 1500 or whatever.
